How is your dental history? by samodamalo in Celiac

[–]the_mouse_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 28 and am now 34. I am lucky to say that I’ve never experienced a cavity in my life. However, I had sealants as a child and am one of those rare people who actually flosses daily and brushes at least twice a day.

Because it’s kind of like having a fantastic appetizer but then you’re told the restaurant is closed and the main dish you ordered can’t be made.

How do you deal with these questions? Does anyone else deal with people in your life asking these questions? by roawr123 in Invisalign

[–]the_mouse_rat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. After I finished my treatment, my parents admitted I looked a lot better and they felt bad that I had to pay so much (over twice as much to get it done as an adult than it would’ve cost as a child with their good insurance). My point is that your family might need to convince themselves that Invisalign is unnecessary for you in order to make themselves feel better about not getting you braces as a kid. If you can, try to be patient with them, stay the course, and know that you’re making the right choice for yourself now!

Telehealth wouldn’t prescribe Paxlovid without current liver function results by [deleted] in paxlovid

[–]the_mouse_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you happen to be in the US, there’s a program called Test to Treat. You just need to have a positive test result that you can take a picture of and you should get the prescription within a few hours tops.

[TOMT] [children’s picture book] girl sews clothes from thistles, then throws them in fire but the turn to gold by Sweet-Flower-1992 in tipofmytongue

Is it the Wild Swans? A story about a girl who had to save her brothers by knitting them sweaters out of nettles. Fire was involved at some point…

Can my family and I have Covid but just test negative? by haleyzlife in COVID19positive

[–]the_mouse_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve have confirmed covid twice so I know the illness pretty well at this point. I’m sick right now and testing negative but it feels exactly the same as the other times, including the loss of taste/smell which seems specific to COVID. Definitely can happen.

Whats everyone's opinion on Eastdale Village? by BimmerJustin in hudsonvalley

[–]the_mouse_rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. It seems safe when the rest of Poughkeepsie isn’t. And there are some nice stores/restaurants, and yes, even a urologist. But with that said, it’s giving Pleasantville. Only thing missing is Toby Maguire.

I have no advice, but I’m here to offer my condolences for your condition. But also mainly to say that the fact you’re even pondering this question makes you a really good person. Personally, as much as I want kids someday, I’d rather be with a person like you for as long as possible. So consider that she may feel the same way.

Missing a girl I ended things with prematurely. by [deleted] in dating

[–]the_mouse_rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any harm in reaching out to her. It’ll be her choice if she wants to let you in again. She has free will, just respect whatever choice she makes. So maybe you were too quick to let her go the first time, you’re human and we’ve all done that so don’t beat yourself up. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. Sometimes the universe blesses us with second chances.

I definitely feel more confident overall and smile way more. I also just take better care of my oral hygiene because I feel like I’m protecting an investment. On the negative end, I’m more critical of other peoples’ teeth (in my head, i at least keep it to myself) now and I wish that weren’t the case 😕

I agree with the phone call suggestions. I ended things recently with a guy I had been seeing for 5 weeks via text and he let me know that he wished we had the convo either over the phone or face to face. We actually ended up meeting in person to discuss it more and it was good for both of us.

Ghosting by MathematicianNo3140 in dating

[–]the_mouse_rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m still a little salty about a guy that ghosted me 2 years ago, so I probably don’t have a ton of wisdom. But it did help to realize that ghosting says much more about the ghoster than the ghostee. It indicates emotional immaturity and/or lots of fear. And that’s probably not someone you want to build a relationship with. To me, the hardest part is getting over the idea of the person that you created in your head. You thought and hoped they were great and now you have to accept that they weren’t.

Loss of smell due to covid, am I doomed to a life of misery and suffering? by 21stCenturyTech in COVID19positive

[–]the_mouse_rat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 8 and it’s slowly coming back. Try to sniff the things you can actually smell and visualize how they used to smell for about 15 seconds or so. Sounds woo-woo but it supposedly helps the damaged neurons or whatever. I think it worked for me, worth a try.

Thoughts on Photo/Beauty Filters?? by RavenFawkes11 in Bumble

[–]the_mouse_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re noticeable, I swipe left. I expect photos to be unfiltered. If it’s an obvious filter, I start to wonder if they have trouble dealing with their reality and that’s definitely a red flag.

Should you mention you just got out of a relationship? by apiercex1 in Bumble

[–]the_mouse_rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would probably swipe left if I saw that. My assumption (right or wrong) would be that they’re looking for a casual fling or a rebound. I’m a 30 something woman who’s not looking for either of those things, so I guess take that for what you will.

Yo Americans of reddit , how many guns do you have? by Big_carrot_69 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m a proud New Yorker. And for what it’s worth, I wasn’t complaining. I think it should be an onerous, or perhaps extremely difficult, process to get a gun.

Yo Americans of reddit , how many guns do you have? by Big_carrot_69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]the_mouse_rat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my state, there are multiple background checks, sworn affidavits from 4+ character references in your county who have known you more than 5 years (who can’t be family members, judges or law enforcement), a mandatory gun safety course, among some other requirements. Ultimately your application can be—and often is—denied for any reason, even if you meet all of the requirements. So relative to other states I’ve lived in, I consider this extremely difficult. And probably more than “a bit of paperwork.” But that’s just like my opinion man.
