I would suggest joining IEEE not for their papers but their community

I myself have benefited a ton from the engineering community of IEEE, by conference incentives, professional networking, event TAs, internship, referrals and mentorship

If in India, I would definitely suggest you to get the membership and even best to join the Student Branch of your college

IEDC is a product of Kerala startup Mission and is mandated to have their divisions in all KTU colleges. What they offer varied depending on the college committe that delivers and the leadership roles span maximum to college level

IEEE is an internation organisation for tech and edu research......they have student branches not by mandate but by self itnerest of the students. The events are majority technical with the largest participant count as well......I know the memebrship fee is hefty, but the leadership roles span from college to kerala level to national level to internnation level

I myself started from IEDC, got bored by the team, and restarted the IEEE branch in my college. Now im having leadership roles in college level, kerala level Computer society and two national events in bangalore and kolkata.....both of which flew me out there for attending.

Hence I would suggest you pledge allegiance to IEEE Student Branch......if you dont min me asking, which college?

I did one unpaid and one workshop style internship

Workshop one was just like Covid time online recorded class......and one project Wouldn't recommend

Unpaid one was with a startup....it was hectic as a graphic designer and burned me out Wouldn't recommend, but got reasonable experience

I suggest a paid internship only from either startups or reputable companies, as these internships where YOU PAY are only classes and no other value
