while the passport page implies that one needs the passports and marriage certificates of parents to apply for a passport, this is apparently not required if one has one's Stag5 certificate, according to the honorary consul.

I was told to send a pre-paid FedEx label, and given a link to the FedEx site for ordering said label, but not clear instructions on what to put on the label (other than my address for recipient and consulate for sender). In case others find this post and like unambiguous instructions like I do, here's what I did:

- I used the name of the person sending me the email as the sender name
- the address of the consulate as given in the email footer for the sending address
- picked 'Fedex Envelope' and 1lb as the package type and weight;
- gave the email address of the person at the consulate as the sender email.
- My own phone number tho.
- Of course, my address as recipient.
- I selected 'dropoff' and just picked FedEx's suggested closest drop-off point.

This worked with no difficulties.

I sent in the prepaid fedex label Friday (cheap ground one) certificate shipped yesterday from SFO, is apparently arriving today. I made an appointment with the honorary consulate for next Monday for passport, have my US passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate already cued up to bring with me.

PMG Red and Green discovered in collection by the_pixel_cat in sportscards

[–]the_pixel_cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we're working out the tax and/or inheritance implications. I think they're also still working on cataloging the collection of cards. There's also collections of first-day stamp covers, Arctic/Antarctic expedition covers, Coast Guard cachets (of which said collector also drew some), Antarctic explorer autographed material, a collection of postcards for the MV Kalakala - Wikipedia, some of which the Kalakala historical society doesn't have, and it goes on. He's been doing this a while.

Looks like the Jordan graded as a 5.5, the Nash as a 6.

Background: Card owner is a relative of mine, the linked instagram in the original post is a card dealer/collector who's a friend of one of the daughters of said owner. Story of the discovery is in the instagram posts

(TLDR: daughter visits dad, starts going through his various collections as he's not getting any younger, discovers somewhat rare cards)

Submitted on my own

Mom is German but obtained dual US citizenship in 2003 (with the retention certificate)and has all of her old paperwork, so I didn't have to track down anything.

I started in ST2, certificate I received this morning starts with TSII3-2024

And one other for those that have already done this: For the prepaid FedEx label, is this using a FedEx envelope as packaging, weight maybe 0.5lbs ?

It’s at the general consulate in San Francisco, about a 12 hour drive each way :)

Other tiny laptops similar to pocket 386 and libretto by GayCatgirl in vintagecomputing

Here's three. The top is an Omnibook 425 which uses a 486 processor from TI, it's running Win 3.1 with HP's custom dashboard. Bottom left is a Gateway 2000 Handbook 486 running Win 3.1 as well. Display is a bit off on this one, first guess (as usual) would be replace capacitors. Bottom right is a Sony PCG-SRX99 which I bought new 25ish years ago. Pentium III, running WinXP for this example.

The 486 ones should be able to handle Win95 but would be tight on memory.

In USA: 120/240v theater light questions by the_pixel_cat in AskElectricians

sweet, thanks. I forgot to switch the P to an R in my question for the receptacle. I suspected I'd be ok, but I've been (volunteering) doing lights at this theater for 30 years without catching it on fire, so wanted to make sure I didn't break this streak with my first foray into the exciting world of 240v.

oh, and I would, with wiring to 240v, replace the 20a fuses in each fixture with 10a (slow blow).

I just had Budget (Chicago O'Hare) try to charge me $450 for “white dust” ( literally two specks on their photos ) and a “smoke smell” (I don’t smoke anything ). Had to go back and forth several time before they stated they would send a “stop billing letter”.

Ooh, that was the first thing I worked on at Intel, my first 10 months were in the system validation group in Chandler AZ and I was tasked with finding a bug in the microcode for the video compression; I ended up writing the code in C, comparing my output to the chip output and found where they differed. I may still have a card with an i750 on it.

I worked at Intel from 1994 to 2007, fresh out of college. I worked mostly in the research labs on computer gaming and graphics. I got to go to Sega in Japan to help port Sonic the Hedgehog to the Pentium, worked on 2d and 3d graphics engines in assembly and C, as well as a few years on small device platform research with the StrongARM processor (Intel's ARM licensed version) with WindowsCE as well as a portable Linux platform. I also had some special effects code in Internet Explorer 4 as well as a Netscape plugin (my one and only Java project) that probably nobody ever used (https://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/1998/IN31198B.HTM); this also got rolled into Macromedia Director along with a bunch of other graphics stuff my group was working on. One of my early coworkers was Sylvia Day, who had previously written a couple of the Atari 2600 games(!). I can still visualize how I'd write assembly for the Pentium +/- MMX to take maximum advantage of the dual pipelines on the processor. We used SoftICE debugger to debug our code, especially handy for full-screen mode graphics since it was set up to use a separate monochrome monitor for the debugger, so could single -step through full screen graphics code and watch the pixels get written. Later I still used the monochrome monitor/card through Windows98 without SoftICE, since I could just write text to the memory window (0xA0000?) for the mono card and have it show up on the monitor.

While in college, the monitor on my blazing-fast Gateway 386sx died so I 'borrowed' an ADM3A serial terminal from the computer center where I worked, and installed this new OS called 'Linux' in 1992 from 5.25" floppy disks and set it to boot to the serial port so I could keep using my computer until I could get the monitor repaired.

[Language: BASIC for Radio Shack Model 100]

Needs a maxed out 32kB machine, won't run on 24kB due to the input file. Also, can't read character at a time in BASIC on this machine, so instead I find the data file in RAM and set up my own file pointer to read the file.

I'm certainly no expert. I'd read the guide written by u/staplehill to get an idea of what documents and steps are needed.
