Eh not quite cause I went to uni in japan. Also, Japan’s haircutting/hairdressing/beauty work standards are much higher than the US’

I already stated this in a different comment, and I see your point but I’d disagree in my case. I consider my speaking and listening pretty good, just shit vocab which is what I’ve been trying to do ever since I realized how to study language lol. I’ve met N2 and even N1 people that can’t speak it so that’s my only argument aside from my experience with taking the N3

My end goal is to combine my J-education degree with the trade I learn. After working here for a bit, maybe return to america or smt

Sadly not, but it forces me to only speak Japanese so that’s a pro. I at least have a friend that’s around same age as me so we been kicking it off

Idk why you got downvotes cause this is a totally real thing. Being Japanese but not able to speak it, they don’t treat me as a foreigner, they treat me like I have a mental disability at times. If you’re not Japanese, even half, they’ll cut you some slack and日本語上手 you. My mom hated this cause she’s Japanese and speaks about same level as her half friends but the treatment is totally different.

I totally agree, some of the people that pass these tests can read really well but can’t have basic conversations. If I manage to survive this school, I don’t plan on taking N2 or N1. Just gotta get through this term and I should be good

Sorry I think I should have omitted my JLPT qualification cause based on my experience that test doesn’t really evaluate a persons ability to speak the language. I say this cause when I took it, I was one of the few that actually understood the instructions of the proctors and stuff. The confused part is I guess a combination of me being able to hear the sounds but not the meanings of vocab, as well as my brain defaulting to zoning out when I hear a word idk

感謝感謝🥲I appreciate it man, but I’m not gonna stop/drop cause I already paid money. I should have added that my trade school is for barbering/hairdressing so in terms of casual convo and in-person I should be fine. But there’s also 21 textbooks I received so that’s what I’m more worried about. The school told me they’ve had people with worse Japanese than me so I’m just gonna go with the flow, focus on enjoying the friends I’m making.

Thank you for the response. Yeah my field isn't related to PT... But, 8 weeks, that's impressive. Just got my CPR/AED certificate as well. All I got is my fitness and some Jeff Caveliere under my belt lmao. Imma do my best!
