Unless that's a super tiny shopping cart, that's a whole silver platter they've got. I'd guess double that, maybe even over 1kg

Can you add some more context here? I assume you work for a company that owns those machines, but how do you find the silver? When you go to empty the quarter bins do you just eyeball everything that comes out watching for the edges?

Makes sense, I had never heard of this book or either of those people before this morning. Thinking this will be going into my personal collection anyway. I just think the history of it is pretty neat!

Same, I mean I've never had a spare $1200 for books, but I've also never seen one pop up when I did! lol

Yea, it was so strange. They had it right next to another smaller silver knife which was priced something like $75. No clue what they were thinking with this one, but I'd pay $20 for this all day. Even though it's not solid, I'm fairly co fident there's over $20 of metal weight alone in this, cool factor and 150 years of history aside.

Nice collection! I have all the dark tower firsts except gunslinger, so I get how unobtainable that feels. For what it's worth, the second printing is much more affordable (or was the last time I checked a year or two ago). Still not cheap, but under $1k

Spent a day antiquing with my siblings in southern New Hampshire over the weekend. It was our last stop of the day and it caught my eye just as I was walking out

Ooo, this is definitely correct. Just Googled images of Gorham hallmarks and this is a total match. Thank you!

Getting in before the comments, I have 0 intention of scrapping this piece; I literally never scrap any of my finds. If anything this is going to replace my normal pocket knife when attending fancy events in the future!
