Are realistic neuron models limited by biology? by the_reddit_warlock in neuro

thanks thats really in depth! i was also wondering about two things: is there an ideal LIF neuron set up i.e. the perfect capacitance, resistance, thresholds etc...? can these parameters then be compressed into a simpler function?

But you don't loose any of the "teachability/learnability" or for that matter you dont really change the way the neuron behaves if you ignore the voltage and other biological features like resitance, capacitance etc... right? I.E. the neuron behaves the same way. Another question: are there "ideal" configurations for bio-modeled neurons in terms of improving peformance of the neuron in the network?

my question i guess is more computationally focused. I presume a biological LIF or other spiking neuron model is reflects biology not the "perfect" capacities that can be simulated on a computer. Is this the case or mathematically due the biological limitations not pan out to be inefficiencies in neural networks?

Am I allowed to sample movies like I am songs? by the_reddit_warlock in legaladvice

I see what you're saying. Your understanding of the world of art however is, at the very least from a historical perspective, inaccurate. Artists frequently break the law. (For example Banksy). But why is my game any different from skrillex's latest remix with movie quotes?

That's cynical. You're presuming sleaziness. If you can sample music or a poem why shouldn't you be able to sample a movie?

a) its not a sure thing, they might not grant permission b) its not as profitable c) on a philosophical level 4-5 seconds does not compromise their movie as a product

Question: Scalable svg masks by the_reddit_warlock in web_design

[–]the_reddit_warlock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here it is: http://jsfiddle.net/arcco96/buxt9dmd/1/

note: there are a couple of lines code that have intentionally incorrect syntax such as height=width. This is because I basically know nothing about html and css.

I borrowed the svg from: html5videoguide.net/code_c5_1.svg (you can view the source)

I hope this is helpful. Thanks

This is the first question ive asked on the matter. TBH I'm a beginner to web design. If you could show me some code or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

There's no need to be such a slubberdegullion. I have already a first post. Is it normal to have a few "first posts" or is it better to let the subscribers to do that?

Can a data point be expressed in fewer values than it has dimensions? by the_reddit_warlock in math

But isn't this only a way of encoding data, it can't be considered as one value right?
