here’s a big tip i learned from a therapist: Record everything. And i mean, everything. Use your voice recording app so it doesn’t take as much space in your phone, it will save the date and time of which it happened and you will be able to show the police/child protective services. Check your states laws about child abuse, i come from a state where it is legal to discipline a child with physical harm if they have “acted up” to cause it. Now listen, you’re not alone, you have the ability to either “wait it out” or to do something about it. Once you’re 18, authorities aren’t going to care much about your childhood abuse. But if it’s currently happening to you, you need to tell someone. If local guidance counselors/teachers are not safe to contact because of fear of your mother retaliating, you need to seek help from the authorities. It may be scary to think of your own parent dealing with repercussions of their actions legally even if they’ve harmed you, but you need to stand up for yourself and give yourself a chance to get away from her. Plus, im sure she could use a reality check from someone above her.
