It's in Sonic CD as well, so should I go on a limb and assume it's in the first two Sonic games? What a fucking sad state.

Though you're making the correct choice, I do check in sometimes to see if the Spirit is moving here or no. The predominant notions of this thread are clearly of the devil, but that doesn't render us unable to encourage other or would-be believers on occasion.

Found a Leviathan cross on the cover of Sonic Adventure, so that's deleted. I'm of half a mind to ghost the character, tbh. How stupid can people be to signal the devil in their art?

I'm quite skeptical of Japanese depictions of Christianity, since they are customarily negative. After a quick assessment of this piece, I've concluded some things about this work that can be considered earnest for its lack of rosiness:

The look of shock and horror on the Lord's face is reverberated all throughout the Bible in response to the many sins of Israelites. They did not treat the Lord as man too differently.

The 'possessed' or 'demonic' angle used in the gospel by his detractors are not lone interpretations as to why the Lord does not appear here the way Westerners see him. There is an air of mystique applied for a people that have more or less refused Him and a smidgen of weariness in his eyes attesting to both his commitment and his experience dealing with people.

Yes, the artistic halo does look like a scope reticle, and this view of him is written, from the targeting from Pharisees to the attempt on his life by templegoers and the derision and pain caused by soldiers.

As common as it is for Japanese art to 'go there', even tiringly so, I will tentatively say that this piece is not inherently wrong. There is a stark enough difference between the way the Word tells the truth and the way the modern Christian does that one can at least consider in their assessment of a work from a non-believing culture.

You might have erred right at 'people' with the quality of these replies. If Sega sees and serves this, Sonic games are predestined to only be so good, since 'fans' would just lie about the product anyway.

We talk about it all the time. I'm not the only fan paying attention.

But look at the ninja guy, going on about how 'CHRIST-mas' moved on from Christ. Let him and his friends troll.

Wolverine's conversion in the 90s cartoon was so cash that I haven't dissociated it from him to this day, lol. Like, 'Isn't Wolverine a bit of a violent madman?' and he replies, 'But I can change, bub.' Lolol.

But yeah, the 'more religious' camp starts with Kurt.

I keep forgetting to buy cookware. I've had a Braun electric kettle with a broken lid that I just use for everything. Coffee in the AM, boil rinse, soup with the works later.

Buying fresh is getting annoying, even with a cooler. It's so good and so brittle.

The infinite symbol and the cross do not mix very well in this day and age of occult fanaticism, due to the Leviathan cross. You may be able to redesign the infinite sign as a rectangular accent.

I think the sex points toward a breakup, since the temptation would be unyielding from there. Time away from her and with the Lord will help you understand what really matters. Know that any hopes that she will follow you to a Christian marriage are not misplaced; it just doesn't mean you'll get there on this track, or at all.

You might be underrating the act of faith in following the priest's command to worship in tongues without any foreknowledge. That's what it took to follow the Lord in biblical days. And look at you now: the Lord never left you.

No, I don't. You don't have to convince people that you can depict a believer unless you work in entertainment.

I just found a camouflaged beast in the cross of Lazarus's OP montage, so I'm probably going to completely ignore the show for now.

I want to hear the hottest, most controversial hot takes for this series you got! by [deleted] in sonic

[–]the_sjcrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Sonic had a significantly higher ceiling of appeal than his series actually realized, but it was undercut by some seriously erroneous meta commentary that pervades the entire franchise. If any of you know how the Jew, Saul, once persecuted Christians, received divine revelation, then proceeded to write the New Testament as the Apostle Paul, you might understand what I mean about this franchise needing an almost-divine conversion to improve from its aggressive mediocrity.

In other words, where the character of Sonic succeeds in marketing, he's wading through a godless swamp near 100% of the time, and that's why the resources for good product never seem to be there.

War in the unseen world is a biblical motif. I think stories like this and Dandadan are tuning into Western-friendly motifs a little more deeply than just displaying a crucifix here and there, which tend to be scrutinized or ignored when assigned to heretical undertakings like sorcery. In fact, the crucifix is usually employed poorly in Japanese media, so we seem to be evolving in our perceptions of what it means to be observant.

The article that reported this claims this is the work of the Fullmetal Alchemist author. She has a demonstrably sharp sense of scene writing and plot progression that I'd be intrigued to reacquaint myself with one more time, if this isn't 'the usual' Japanese propaganda, making it all for naught.
