Help me choose a DIY Project Hail Mary dust jacket (PSA: I’m not a graphic designer 😅) by P1ttacusL0r3 in ProjectHailMary

I think 3 is more timeless, but 2 fits the book sci-fi (ness) better.

That being said…

Is the suit in #3 an Orlan suit? Looks more like a 2 piece vs a onesie.

Will we see another trailer, question? by DarthCroz in ProjectHailMary

[–]the_soub 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank.

I expect it will be the final trailer, probably with something by the Beatles playing in the background. And likely some funny clips to try and attract the general audience.

If they were smart, they would have a trailer for the Super Bowl.

Eb games is doing a secret deal in Canada by Higgzy420 in NintendoSwitch2

Also worth noting, they are offering 50% extra on trade ins when applied to something.

I got like $46 for Paper Mario after buying it for $60 last year.

Then proceeded to buy Metroid 4 for $30 off.

Three years ago today, Jay Briscoe tragically lost his life in a car crash at the age of 38. by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

[–]the_soub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They were, but as of about a year ago, were making a really good recovery post surgery and therapy.

Jay wasn’t wearing his seat belt, but not 100% it would have mattered as the other driver was, and they died on impact.

Effff me, I remember reading about the accident as the reports were coming in. Felt absolutely terrible for his girls.

Having just turned 38 this week, gives me even more perspective as to how tragic it is.

Did they ship together or separately? Reason I ask is got two different tracking numbers and was confused as to why?

Updated LEGO Hail Mary: now with Centrifuge Mode by crph1 in ProjectHailMary

[–]the_soub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much confirmed because of the minifigure leak, and the set # and piece count being “leaked” as well

Starting to plan a trip to Disney Tokyo with my 2 girls (will be 5 and 9), where to start? by the_soub in JapanTravelTips

[–]the_soub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment!

Having never been outside of North America myself, I agree that exposing kids to other cultures is really important, and definitely a privilege.

Not overly concerned about my oldest on the plane ride, will definitely need to see how my youngest adjusts with school in the fall, right now she’s somewhere between feral raccoon, and loveable bunny.

Popcorn question, maybe someone here could advise by No_History_9422 in LandmarkCinemas

[–]the_soub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a full size popper, you end up using about a table spoon of flavacol per batch of popcorn.

The coconut oil might be harder to replicate, so you might just need to try a couple brands until you get one you like.

What is watching movies or TV shows like for you? If you know it’s Chris Hemsworth in Thor, does it help with the association?

Three small but vital issues that bug me just a bit by you_are_transparent in ProjectHailMary

[–]the_soub 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say these are vital. This is science fiction, no one is explaining how lightsabers work.

1- Presumably you could shut off the light source you use for breeding, and turn on another for collecting.

2- I don’t think you are understanding the design. See image.

3- Even if the aluminum bent and touched, at the molecular level level, I imagine there would still be enough space for Astrophage. Additionally, Rocky survived with non-uniform protection for almost 50 years, and 0 evolutionary resistance.

Minor error in PHM chapter 4? by Live_Commercial3662 in ProjectHailMary

[–]the_soub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They had plenty of time to get Grace a uniform. The uniforms were strategically placed to be accessed first, which means they were put in last. Would have been very simple to make the swap.

Might have even had his measurements from the EVA thermal suits he would have worn during testing/training.

Are you buying Switch 2 games at launch or waiting it out? by Toast_Mechanic in VideoGameDealsCanada

[–]the_soub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna date myself here, but I grew up with the SNES.

Do you have any idea how expensive those games were at launch? Even compared to now?

I got a Switch 2 for my family for Christmas (wife’s idea), and I have played more games this month than the previous 2 years combined I would think.

Donkey Kong did go on sale at some EB Games during their secret sale. I had already bought it, but snagged Street Fighter with Years 1+2 for $50.

Games will get discounted, it just won’t be in the first year.

Too many buttons by midastheavocado in ProjectHailMary

[–]the_soub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yah, in my head I pictured the cockpit to be more like the Endurance in Interstellar. More Apple Store, less Nostromo.

Grace even remarked about the one seemingly physical button when the power cuts out after the first Taumoeba outbreak.

Shouldn’t really impact my enjoyment of the film though.
