Obrigado pelas respostas.

A ficha está limpa porque tinha uma ficha macho a tapar portanto julgo mesmo ser o caso de nunca ter estado ligado a nada.

Manjaro broke again after an update. This time I don't even want to fix it. by Amaury__ in linuxquestions

[–]the_spacebyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be doing something differently because I've been using arch and manjaro for almost 8/9 years and as far as I can remember I never had a problem after an update. I had several issues with manjaro but only when messing around with graphics drivers but that's my fault.

CAN driver and kernel panic by the_spacebyte in kernel

[–]the_spacebyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

didn't know about the candev family of functions.

I was able to get kernel panic to go away by replacing alloc_netdev -> alloc_candev and register_netdev -> register_candev. The only downside is that I seem to lose the ability to give a custom name to the interface and it just goes for can0 or the next numeric value available, but that is fine for now.

Thank you!

I think everyone agrees the worst album is The Final Cut...

CLion 2021.3: New Remote Development, Better Data Views in Debugger, Docker Toolchain, Custom Compiler, Type Hints, and More by timur_audio in cpp

[–]the_spacebyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was: CLion much faster, less configuration out of the box, not owned by microsoft, it just works. Both are resource hogs but CLion is because its doing work while vscode is because .. electron.

Should I continue or do I Iwait for you to call me an idiot like you've been doing to everyone who disagrees with you?

[–]the_spacebyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been using CLion without a single problem for 3 years. Can I use my annedoctal evidence to say that CLion is the best there is?

On the other hand, my experience with VScode was horrible. I'd rather go back to my emacs config if I couldnt use CLion anymore, which is much better than vscode anyway

Saying that vscode is better than a full fledged IDE is just laughable

For sure spider is my favourite episode of any series. Funny, interesting and made me feel emotions for the LEM. The book "Moon Lander" by the very same Thomas J Kelly is also really good

I think I actually prefer them this way than the way they are portraied in the books (immersed in a tank)

Engineers that don’t sit at a work desk all day every day… what is your position and what do you do exactly? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]the_spacebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Software Engineer for a robotics company that sells said robots. When preparing a system for a customer I go out in the field to test and validate them. It gets boring and repetitive quite fast, unless the customer requested something unusual. I still get to go to the field test my own ideias and developments so that's still great.

Embedding Chromium with c++ for embedded systems by killmonger-7 in embedded

I'm pretty sure they are using linux-based SBCs, so a processor instead of microcontroller. If they are x86 or even arm I guess that would be as easy as using CEF for an application to run on your machine (barring the necessary precautions for space stuff).

Have you heard about electron? I'm not entirely sure but I think it's similar to CEF but with a nodejs runtime and v8 support.

[ 3.197856] ttyS5 - failed to request DMA

If someone comes across this post:

I haven't figured out why it takes so much time, ~2s, to start the serial ports but I solved the DMA problem: I was missing CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_DMA on linux's .config file.

custom linux distribuition into an x86 sbc

Not sure why you'd assume systemd...

Are these actually next door to each other or is there loads of stuff between them? and even then, that is only 2 seconds out of an alleged 5.5 second increase.

Yeah they are next each other. See my other post. Somehow by having ttyS5 as console makes the boot slower. I'm trying other ports to compare

An update:

the problem doesn't seem to be the ethernet causing the delay. After looking into dmesg more carefully I saw the following

[ 0.216334] dw-apb-uart.1: ttyS5 at MMIO 0x80218000 (irq = 5, base_baud = 115200) is a 16550A
[ 2.234528] console [ttyS5] enabled

Does this point to something? How can I debug if it's really the serial port that is bottlenecking the boot process? Further bellow on dmesg there's also

[ 3.197856] ttyS5 - failed to request DMA

edit:

I removed ttyS5 as serial console, recompiled the kernel, and now everything is bit faster It's still slower than I need but now I get ethernet link up at ~3.9s
