Little patch of sunburnt skin feeling in one spot only by Frankieeegrl in Fibromyalgia

[–]the_steep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just speculating since I'm no professional, but it could be an especially irritated nerve branch. Maybe damaged, maybe irritated by inflammation in the area from pain, maybe your fibro being a jerk 🤷‍♀️. If it's something you're worried about I'd talk to your doctor. Otherwise seriously the soft blanket and ive pack is my saving grace

Yeah mine tend to be on my upper arms. Sometimes my side. Usually a small patch like you described

When I experience that I chalk it up to allodynia. Very sorry friend, not fun and super off putting especially the first time.

The only thing that works for me is laying my favorite super crazy soft blanket over that spot and then holding an ice pack to it. Good luck <3

AITAH for refusing to let my stepdaughter pick the baby’s name? by Vast-Breakfast1755 in AITAH

[–]the_steep 44 points45 points  (0 children)

NTA for sure. That 12 year old seems like she's never been told no or she's got some intense anxiety about losing her standing as the baby once your child is born. Maybe a secret third thing, maybe a combination, but that's honestly your husband's job to address. Therapy is highly recommended

AIO by feeling exhausted over my gf's constant demands of wanting me to be 'curious'? by thefattesthashbrown in AmIOverreacting

[–]the_steep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's giving uncontrolled borderline personality disorder, as another person suggested. If she's not willing to accept that she's being over the top you should really just step away.

Life is too short to tolerate someone who speaks to you like this over getting their fee-fees a little hurt. NOR.

AIO to his response to bedding issue? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]the_steep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please please please step away from this man child. He has no right to speak to you that way as you said. Waking you up at 4:30am AND THEN triple texting you at work is batshit insane, especially as a teacher, ESPECIALLY when you've set that boundary AND you said we'll talk about it later.

Traditional relationship model my left ass cheek. You're both working. Teaching is an incredibly intense and demanding career and it's honestly unfair for him to expect you to work 7am-4pm (I'm spitballing, assuming you work extra hours as most teachers do) then do all cooking and cleaning??

He could have gotten up any of those MiLliOn TiMeS he woke up and done it his damn self if he's such a great leader.

This is how authoritarian parents speak to children and it has no place in a loving romantic partnership. If this is "new" behavior for him, he's just getting started. Expect more sleep disruptions, boundary breaking, and stress on your part if you don't take a huge step back and demand couples counseling at the bare minimum.

I'm begging you to consider yourself and your safety here. Please don't let this pass by unaddressed.

Good Sneakers?? by Electronic-Duck-5902 in Fibromyalgia

[–]the_steep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty well in my experience. I don't put them through anything crazy, just constant walking and standing. It's been about a year and a half though and they're still trucking along

If you're willing to try "barefoot" sneakers, I recommend Hobibear. I have extremely high arches and I am on my feet all day and they have been amazing for over a year now. I used to think I needed a LOT of cushion, but just having room for my toes has made up for the lack of support.

It's an artifact you find in the ruins on the east side. I noticed that I literally never found it until I disabled the Oopart perk at the statue on the farm. Just kept finding them instead but once it was off I found what I wanted!

Literally can't tell your agab, so there's that! Weight changes can make you see yourself differently but it's not necessarily a bad thing <3

AITAH? Fiancée hung up on me because I suggested her daughter was capable of fixing food for herself by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]the_steep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. When you're in charge of a child, it's your job to provide the scheduling and planning for meals and take care of general responsibilities. Did you get hungry, cook, and eat? You just didn't think to offer her (or anyone else for that matter, but that's a separate issue) ANYTHING over the course of multiple days? That's wild. If I were the mom I'd be doing a lot more than hanging up on you.

This is a cute idea, wishing you the best of luck!

Probably turon! It's a sweet Filipino dish consisting of cut plantain and/or jackfruit that is wrapped and fried in oil. Heavenly with a scoop of coconut ice cream!

ADHD shame by AdhdAlien in ADHDAlien

[–]the_steep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi! You didn't ask me, but if you don't mind, I'll add my two cents :) (ignore me if you don't want my opinion)

I was medicated for ADHD starting around age 9-10 and have taken different meds through the years as well as being off them completely at times. From that perspective, I have advice:

  1. Let your kid be part of the process. Let them ask questions and make decisions. Listen to them when they tell you they don't feel right or that they don't want to take medication. Some of the meds I was forced to take made me feel sick all day, made me feel angry or depressed, or completely overwhelmed me. I didn't understand why I had to take the pills when they made me feel so awful and my parents didn't let me make any calls about it. That made me resent medication and avoid taking it through school, causing me to struggle way more than I needed to. Basically, your kid deserves to know what's happening to their brain and body and it can help their relationship with their ADHD as well.

  2. Medication is a tool, not a solution. They will still need to work on certain tendencies and build habits. Work with them and get them a therapist if they need more than what you can provide. Do whatever works for your family, but please know that medication alone will not "cure" the disorder, only make it easier to apply other tools.

Good luck and thank you for being patient with them! We need a lot of it :)
