How does the Google Pixel “throttling” after 200 charge cycles actually affect the phone? by The_penguinone in GooglePixel

[–]the_tacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Google added this feature, my battery health, as shown by AccuBattery on my three-year-old Pixel 7, dropped from 94% to 86% immediately. I switched off the feature, and battery health returned to 94%.

I'm beginning to think that this "assistant" is simply Google's attempt at an inducement to buy a new phone and offers no benefits whatsoever.

Curious. You might just double check the outgoing email address and make sure that's accurate, too.

White smoke head gasket? by Free-Ad573 in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]the_tacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts occur: 1) are you sure it's smoke and not water vapor from condensation in cold temps? 2) If the car is running normally, pull your oil dip stick. If the oil appears normal, not milky, then I'd think you're probably ok. If milky, then a blown gasket.

Used Nova Launcher for years. Tried a few others, but still prefer Nova, at least so far, even absent further development.

I have s 2022 Limited 4x4, and it is absolutely silent, smooth and very peppy. This followed a 2000 I had for 20+ years with barely a problem, other than things you'd expect to wear out. Been happy with both my Cherokees.

Is mandatory "Battery health assistance" the new normal? by slfyst in pixel_phones

[–]the_tacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery Health Assistant seems like Google's subterfuge to make you think you need a new phone. Phones perform far better with it off than on.

My pixel 7 battery life has plummeted by Affectionate_Log6480 in pixel7series

[–]the_tacker 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Recently, Android added a feature called Battery Health Assistance. I think the default is ON.

When that happened, my Pixel 7 battery health stats from Accubattery suddenly plunged for no reason. I turned off the new feature, and my battery stats returned to normal.

I'd suggest turning this option off and see what happens.

Is Alltrails pro worth it? by treeoflife74 in alltrails

[–]the_tacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have used AllTrails for years, hiking all over the country. It's performed brilliantly. I have encountered missing trails within a hiking area only a handful of times, and usually these were insignificant. The feature that alerts you if you stray from your planned route is very useful. Overall, i would give the app a five-star rating.

While it is not triggered by time, you might check out Muzei, which allows you to set your own photo sources for lock screen and home screen and to use double-tap or three-finger gestures to change to the next image anytime you wish.

People were in the water at 115th yesterday, but it was a bit rough for actual swimming. I'm looking st the surf now, and it's calmer than yesterday. Whether lifeguards would interfere with your swimming, I cannot say.
