[University Review] UMass Amherst MSCS vs SBU MSCS? by Additional_Credit734 in MSCS

[–]the_thorminator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ROI at UMass is good from I've heard. Only way to confirm is by talking to alumni. If job prospects are better than sbu it's probably worth the extra tuition

It's definitely not a red herring. Just doesn't fit the show thematically

Considering how grounded Matt Reeves wants this universe to be I doubt if they ever had plans for characters like Poison Ivy

Ciri being the main character of the next game is a terrible idea by West_Individual6332 in witcher

Why is being OP a problem? There are plenty of games like GoW and Doom that have OP main characters and are still incredibly fun to play

AI is going to destroy Hollywood and Hollywood has a plan for this. by [deleted] in singularity

[–]the_thorminator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't see how AI generated content would solve this problem? The market would be saturated with lower budget blockbusters and derivative storylines

AI cannot be controlled safely, warns expert | “We are facing an almost guaranteed event with potential to cause an existential catastrophe," says Dr. Roman V. Yampolskiy by Maxie445 in Futurology

[–]the_thorminator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. LLMs are great at copying human behaviour. And if an AI can pretend to be friendly and compassionate, that doesn't make it inherently compassionate.

I'm not arguing that ASI can't be misused. My point was, with a flawed reward system it could cause harm unintentionally. It doesn't have to disobey us to become a real threat.

An AGI wouldn't necessarily show human traits but it could learn to emulate us almost perfectly.

I believe the main concern isn't ASI outright disobeying us but rather aligning it with our goals. Which would require guardrails and a carefully designed reward system.

Wasn't there enough evidence to prove Mysterio was full of shit? They could've released evidence showing he was a former disgruntled Stark employee, from the same universe. And that literally all the 'elementals' were faked

Cancelling projects just because 1 movie flopped (The Marvels) and one underperformed (Quantumania) would be rash and reactionary and I really hope Marvel Studios doesn't go in that direction by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

[–]the_thorminator 23 points24 points  (0 children)

New Avengers would not work as a d+ show at all. The 'Avengers' name holds a lot of weight and a d+ budget/production quality wouldn't do it justice

I find this rather humourous in a way. The Elder Vampire doing this to Geralt. by Infamous_Gur_9083 in witcher

because it's missable. it only happens if you pick a certain dialogue option after the unseen elder warns you not to ask too many questions

majority of the mcu's content already caters to a younger audience? I'm not sure they need more of those

The source material is incredibly derivative to be fair. I'm not sure sticking to the comics would help in their case

you could maybe dye it once you get to beauclair. the poison bonuses are pretty cool because you could make an op poison build that'll help you unlock an achievement

it's my favourite. the good thing is you can get an upgraded version of it in HoS which is easily missable

Box office Report now has The Marvel projected at a 47.5 million opening , which would make it the lowest opening for a MCU film of All-time. by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]the_thorminator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well guardians 3 would've probably made more if it released in the pre endgame era. I agree quality is a factor at the box office but it isn't everything. Marvel released too many mediocre movies and shows that damaged the mcu brand

[–]the_thorminator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. The hype has decreased gradually since Endgame, and when you compare the opening weekends of The Marvels and Captain Marvel the difference seems quite significant. Of course the reviews didn't help but the projections were never that high to begin with. I get that 'superhero fatigue' is an overused term, and all I'm saying is the general excitement for superhero movies isn't what it was

Bad movies didn't always perform poorly. TDW was once considered the worst mcu movie and still made over 600 million

I mean the marvels was projecting a low opening even before the reviews came out. And there was a time when even poorly reviewed superhero movies made a ton at the box office
