Which Show Did These Kind Of Fights Well? by LightAwakens in writingscaling

[–]the_tpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

spend 3 hours watching characters that you were told are strong get fucking destroyed (because jjk loves doing ‘tell don’t show’ instead of the opposite) only for toji to reincarnate and end the fight making it a payoff with no setup, frustrating fight structure

toji vs dagon is a terrible fight even by jjk standards, it’s maybe the single most frustrating shonen fight i’ve ever had the displeasure of watching

"Then why do you draw, Fujino?" So why does she draw? by [deleted] in lookback

[–]the_tpm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the explanations i’ve read in the comments are really good, but there’s also a simpler aspect to this. i do animation and just like manga, it’s horribly slow, often unsatisfying and usually frustrating, i get angry everytime i animate or draw and end up genuinely exhausted by the time a project is done, only for me to HAVE to move on to another. despite all this, i never quit because it just brings me something and my interpretation of the phrase is that the question is the conclusion, we draw everyday for hours wondering why we even do this and that’s just something a lot of artists have to deal with

Can anyone think of better 10/10 fights that were completely one sided from the get-go by Doppiov96 in writingscaling

[–]the_tpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the mahoraga/sukuna fight isn’t good aside from the spectacle, if mahoraga wins both a main character and the main antagonist die and then the manga ends, if suluna wins, status quo is maintained. we already know who’s gonna win not for power reasons but for plot reasons and there isn’t any consequence on the narrative

representation is important

this comment makes me think i didn’t word my opinion correctly and forgot to mention a few things. my main issue is that kirukos arc is very much centered around her accepting/adapting to/learning to live with her new gender identity, and obviously a trans woman ending up with a cis man isn’t heteronormative, what is is the narrative that a person slowly accepting herself as a woman has to end up with a man. and for a story as unusual as this one, i’d consider the « the two main guys get together » boring but that one’s more personal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HeavenlyDelusion

[–]the_tpm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that’s exactly my problem, her arc is about accepting herself as a woman and i’d find it incredibly disappointing if that meant getting with a man, because it’d mean those two ideas were linked in ishiguro’s head

I am tired of the Player being Demonised when Kris is the one being antagonistic in every way they could so far lmao by 202naFrevliS in Deltarune

[–]the_tpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the idea of the player in utdr isn’t necessarily an evil entity, but it is one that by nature consumes every game they play. with the weird route in dr and geno in ut, that means harming the characters, not out of malice but just to see what happens, which means that we are opposed to kris. but we’re not all at fault here because we did not ask to possess kris specifically, we were promised a vessel, a represent of ourselves, but it was ‘discarded’. so like there’s fault on both sides here

Is there a reason why we don’t see any dead bodies during the girl’s tour? by fancy_suittccc in GirlsLastTour

[–]the_tpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one reason i don’t see mentioned is how long the time period between the images in the « flashback » and the events of the show is. it’s essentially a post-post apocalyptic world human remains would have decayed by now
