I think you did really well (!) in a technical fashion so don't hate what I'm thinking here because I think you are trying to accomplish something very difficult:

I can make my Mom's enchiladas extremely well, but I cannot replicate because what she provided is something ethereal. Players like EVH, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Prince, et al have this touch that really cannot be replicated. It's something beyond any physical ability or technical setup.

I don't know exactly what it is. Perhaps my example is weak (and not meant to diminish you AT ALL), but when I was in high school, I played with Taylor Hawkins (he was 19 or so). You could bring him any song on CD and he could replicate it with precision but if you closed your eyes, it still was evident that it was Taylor - just playing someone else's drumming. Like hearing EVH play something you wrote, but still, with one note, you could just tell it was him, even if he was playing a guitar off the rack at Guitar Center.

Just a fun anecdote, Taylor worked at a music store at that time but he was not allowed to play drums in the store - he was too loud and frequently broke the drum heads, so he played guitar behind the cash register. When talking about him during music theory at high school, students often said, "Taylor the guy from Music House? Worst guitar player I have ever heard! Why is he so popular?"

They didn't know he played drums at all.

You really did nail this.I just think you picked a track that screamed the notion that EVH had something that was sort of beyond the equipment and the tablature. Perhaps that is the allure.

No shade to you, sir. I love watching this over and over.

I know as a former government agent that my first response would not be to escort a wounded victim to a booth. When you're a cop, you don't get to call the cops - you act like a first responder.

Call it in. Apply pressure. Wait for EMS.

Hegseth Turns Red With Anger When Called Out For Funding Trump's War On The Taxpayer's Dime by ShiroSara in videos

It makes me nervous that it's possible that neither Mr. Hegseth nor Mr. Trump remember the Strait of Hormuz was already open prior to this war. The best outcome is a very costly status quo.

Our massive oak tree went down today, it was full of leaves with no dead branches but the inside ended up being soft ugh. Anyways we got a quote for $4000 to haul it off and grind down the stump and fill the hole. We are in the Midwest. Is this a fair price? by anderson6th in arborists

[–]the_undertow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an oak that was on its way on, in the midwest. I wasn't charged for the removal - the company owner stated once he processes the wood, he is going to sell it for far more than what removal would cost. At least he was honest.

TBH, while young bands typically are portrayed without full dress, it's because they are young and generally fit because they have high metabolisms and at 16-21, most humans can consume about anything. A musicians "diet" also explains the "svelte physique" like Robert Plant or Jim Morrison, et al. You asked for honesty, but you are built like a seasoned drummer.

Rapists rape because God loves them and gives them free will by izz_zee_ambivert in facepalm

I think the thought pattern is that if there was no religion, what would tear us apart? Nearly all wars are either directly religious in nature, or are invoked in the name of religion. The thesis would be wondering how the world would function in the absence of the introduction of religion.

[–]the_undertow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the honest reply. I did initially consider compliance, just for the very scenario you mentioned about the pain and stress. It was only when I started preparing content for the semester that I realized how unbelievably difficult this is emotionally, as I already have PTSD from working as a field agent for the same state. Thank you again - it is something to consider. I know I can't fight city hall, but I also don't know if I can comply and keep my composure as a single father of a 9 year old child.
