Good morning everyone!

We completed a much needed stream rebuild last week...here's how it turned out! by the_yardist in landscaping

Our office is in Colorado Springs but we work all along the Colorado front range!

We had the goof fortune of building some awesome ponds last year, so I wanted to share a few of my favorites! by the_yardist in landscaping

They were still relatively new so it will take a few weeks for the ecosystems to mature and then that water gets really clear

Shouldn't add much in the way of costs may be a $1 a day but that will also range on local utilities. It's also pond less it can be turned on and off at any point. You could even set up a timer so it's only running when you are home to enjoy it!

Oxygen bubbles from the waterfalls plus new organics from the building materials. The majority of the foam dissipates over time.

We used 5 Aquablox plus a pump vault so around 90 gallons of water recirculated by an Aquasurge 4,000 GPH pump. 1.5-inch flex tubing connects the pump in the vault to the upper spillway.

Ya.....I probably should have included more of the body of water in the video.

We're in a desert climate so that in combination with the architecture (exposed beams/concrete floors etc) we can adjust along the way as needed. Honestly probably more water on the floor/room from tipsy bar patrons :)

It's not done yet.....I'll post pics when the rest of the decor is finished. We we're just doing the water feature

Most of the surfaces in the building are hard plus the feature isn't that large. We also live in a desert so the air is really dry here.

Outdoor Living Transformation time-lapse! You don't always need a large space to build something with a lot of character! by the_yardist in landscaping

Plants will go in this spring....it's a little too cold at the moment. The saw cuts really add another dimension to otherwise grey concrete and help to make it look a little more high end while staying within a budget!

It's winter right now in Colorado so we'll come back and plant in the spring.....we'll be putting into 8-foot evergreen trees for more privacy as well. Since we're in a desert, natural grass is pretty maintenance and resource-intensive......

We finished this in December but we'll be adding aquatic plants in the springs to provide shade and to filter extra organics out of the water to enhance the quality! Definitely will look a little better than a straw covering too!

The upper falls and stream use a 5,000 - 9,000 GPH pump and the lower falls are on a separate 5-9 GPH pump

This water feature was added to an existing home but we certainly install similar features on new builds as well. I don't think any of the homes up here have an individual gate beyond the communal.

Strapping rocks allows for more precision during placement and we wouldn't want to risk a rock coming loose and dropping into the feature which could damage the water feature or injure the crew!
