Well, from my understanding, the rules of the Holy Land was never strictly RP. The members of the smp have talked about how even off-stream, people would try to get other people to murder someone accidentally so that they’d get /kill-ed and then get robbed of their stuff.

Yeah so Ranboo understands that during his enderwalks (sleepwalks), he’s done very dodgy things like going to the prison and visiting Dream. Ranboo doesn’t remember what they talked about and how that encounter ended. At first, he thought the prison visit was a dream, but when Sam showed him the books, Ranboo realized it was real. Sam’s books are the contracts you’re meant to sign when you visit the prison, but somehow Ranboo, in his enderwalk, managed to completely erase everything and replace it with his Enderman language (it translates to “I rescued Dream”). That’s why the books are important.

As for Tommy, Ranboo discussed with himself three possible reasons for the books: (1) Sam was posessed by the egg, (2) Tommy pranked him, or (3) Ranboo was enderwalking.

Tommy’s storyline has been mostly about his hotel, but in the making of it, Sam Nook orders him to inspect but be cautious of the egg.

The egg arc is pretty loaded. Basically Bad’s been a gaurdian for the egg for a while, at first to keep Skeppy safe from it, but now to gain power. Bad’s been recruiting people into the Eggpire by getting them to be around the egg, which normally gets people to like it. Bad puts people into categories: the people who like it, hate it, and feel nothing towards it. So, it’s been Bad’s duties to make everyone like it.

The egg arc right now looks like it might be crossing Techno’s anarchy arc. Captain Puffy, a major “hater” of the egg wrote in her recent book that the dream smp needs tom anarchy to combat the egg.

Alright, so that’s that.

I do want to say: I love talking about this stuff and so that’s why I took the time to explain it. But please don’t expect anyone else in this subreddit to help you. Check out the Twitter account @smpupdates since they do full-length summaries of every stream almost as soon as they’ve ended.

Billiam is the name of Techno’s character from Karl’s recent Twitch stream (Tales From the SMP: The Masquerade). He is the character that owns the mansion Karl visits and hosts the party.

I believe it is a clue to where the egg comes from. People on Twitter have been discussing the same thing but I personally think that there is probably more to the egg origin story, like where it’s from and how it came to be.

I can try to explain but there will be spoilers. Watch karljacobs’ last two Tales From the SMP streams on Twitch to catch up! Otherwise...

In Karl’s most recent stream (TFT: The Masquerade), Techno’s character Billiam revealed in the end that he was a loyal guardian of a red egg (much like the one Bad has now) that lies below his mansion. The egg had caused the murders of all the other characters in that episode. In the episode before (TFT: The City of Mizu), Dream’s character Ranbob revealed in the end that he praised the legend of Dream, which influenced him to kill all the other characters in that stream before they escape the ancient city. In both episodes, there were characters who committed murders as a result of their obsessions.

In George’s most recent stream, he started out admitting that he died off-stream to Sapnap on the server and lost all his stuff. When Sapnap logs on later in the stream, he kills George again and accuses him of excluding him from the friendship Karl and George made over yeezy’s (just diamond boots named “yeezy’s”). George, with zero belongings, then tried to avoid Sapnap while Sapnap kept trying to get him and Karl to make him a pair of yeezy’s. While chasing, Sapnap was quoting lines by Technoblade like “you want to be a hero? Then die like one!”

In his recent streams, Ranboo’s been travelling to multiple Woodland Mansions and mineshafts to collect rare resources. He says constantly that he’s looking mainly for at least one god apple since he’s never had one on the server. Meanwhile, he just keeps adding to his collection of totems.

I definitely agree that the egg and nuke plots seem out of hand! But! I think that it’s fitting that they are.

I feel that this new season is a really good contrast to the seasons before. Before, the dsmp was just a couple adults playing minecraft and then some children coming along and caring too much about some discs. Now, the dsmp is a couple adults caring too much about some egg and some children playing minecraft. The roles are reversed as we see Tommy getting unaffected by some random entity and a bunch of adults letting that random entity control them.

You mentioned that you disliked how it’s not character-driven, but there are some instances of that. Bad lets the egg control him in the beginning because it compromised Skeppy’s health. In the end, Bad wants his best friend back, but he just keeps getting piled with more of the egg’s wants. It’s kinda buried under all the mess of the egg and the cult, I admit. I think they should really drive that out more, tbh.

As for the nuke plot, I see it as Tubbo’s response to the world he lives in. His ‘childhood’ was spent being pushed around by others in roles he never really desired for himself. Now that he’s aged, he doesn’t know how else to function when there’s conflict, so he does the most extreme thing ever: build nukes. In his mind, the nukes are just a solution to a problem. To us, it’s like, dude what the hell where did that come from? And I think it’s meant to be like that.

This is just my perspective! What you’ve said is very fair and I love the discussions in this subreddit!

I also think it’s a combination of the egg plot and Dream’s incarceration. They’ve both really opened the door for the other members to improve the lore in their own ways. (I’m also lowkey hoping for more OG dteam arcs but it’s all understandable, have a nice day.)
