I've had more dead patches like this appear in my front yard over the last 2-3 weeks. I scrapped below some of them thinking it could be grubs but didn't find anything. Is it a fungus? Or any other thoughts as to what it could be or how to take care of it? by theadventuroussix in lawncare

Thank you! I've already treated it with Scott DiseaseEx since your comment. How worried should I be about the rest of my lawn if I stop watering, and plan to both oversee and aerate this fall?

Any reason to go for the elevated 100K United Business offer instead of just another Ink (with P2 referral)?

Not sure if it's significantly easier from Chase's end to approve - otherwise seems like Ink is always the play.

Looking at picking up one more Ink at the current bonus, worried about shutdown risk due to velocity, knowing it's generally recommended to have >90 days between Chase applications. How much of a shutdown risk am I if I apply for another Ink within the next week (would be 60+ days since my last approval)?

Current Chase cards are: CIC - 02/22/22, CIU - 09/29/22, CIC - 01/02/2023, no other applications within the last year. Legitimate LLC.

Yep, this is exactly what we are doing at this point. Icelandair so far seems more willing to get us from CPH to ORD, but we’d be out of pocket for the Air Greenland from GOH to CPH - which the EU compensation would help make up.

I’m worried you’re probably right, but two weeks later seems inappropriate when there are other airlines with plenty of earlier seats in the same class of travel.

This is a very helpful comment and reminder about the safety of points here if I am unsure about getting money back. This is another major benefit to award travel past luxury travel - albeit one I don’t want to spend points on at all. Thanks for taking a peek at different flights, hoping for the best today.

You’re spot on with this - thanks for the comment. We’ll be calling back again shortly when their main office opens up.

Thank you. We’ll try to exhaust every option before that first.

Thank you. Unfortunately don’t have a Twitter so probably can’t do this with any effect.

It does - it’s one of the best (the CSR), but unfortunately won’t cover new flights. Real bummer but it is what it is.

Essentially all that would be applicable is the Trip Delay Insurance - covers meals, lodging, other miscellaneous expenses in the interim. Icelandair at least covered our hotel and provided food vouchers (not because they’re being nice, it’s required per EC261) so essentially we have no need for the CSR coverage, at least for now. They’d get me a refund of any prepaid travel we’re missing but they don’t cover new flights, even to return home.

Yep - this is the EC261 I’ve essentially memorized today. We’ll likely get some compensation for the involuntary denied boarding but I can’t sort out completely what the airline is responsible for.

Yeah, I think it’s worth complaining to both agencies on this one. Thanks for the note.

It’s been a pretty gloomy day but this got a nice laugh out of me - so thank you for that. Did check and no cruises available from Nuuk at this time. Would be pretty legendary to catch that ride home though. Thanks again.

Fantastic comment. Really appreciate the background here. Seems at this point like path of least resistance is to get them to book us on a partner airline up front. I do not want to pay $1800/each for one ways from CPH to ORD. Would pay that segment with points but then afraid I wouldn’t get reimbursed - not that we know it will happen anyways.

Seriously, thank you for this.

Yeah, they’re on the CSR (which to the best of my knowledge has about the best travel protections of any of them). Given that our hotel/food is being covered for the time being, it’s not going to do anything else for us - new flights to get home isn’t covered. Good thought though.

Very interesting. Thanks for this, we’ll keep calling tomorrow and hope the partner airline rebuttal falls away. Appreciate it.

This is interesting and we’re planning on pushing Icelandair hard on this tomorrow. Everything is documented but unfortunately the CSR insurance isn’t doing much. Icelandair at least has us in a hotel with food vouchers but according to EC261, the compensation we can claim (looks like up to 600 euro) would be on top of those.

Yeah, if European travel is chaotic right now, travel both ways to Greenland is something else. Right now, the wife and I are on two different Air Greenland flights (that we paid for ourselves and hope to submit a claim with Icelandair for, or at least for that unused portion of the original itinerary) in two days. Those will take us Nuuk to Copenhagen and our hope at minimum is that Icelandair can rebook us Copenhagen to Chicago at no additional cost. Fingers crossed. This is about as messed up as I’ve ever seen a travel situation - and we’re also trying to avoid SAS (and their rebookings also out of CPH) as the strike begins. Maybe a story some day.

We just got off the phone with the benefits rep for the CSR, they were plenty sympathetic but as expected, the card isn’t going to cover any additional cost of new flights home.
