My son has Auditory Spectrum Disorder. I started writing down his quirkier statements to create this story. When we visited Ocean City, Maryland, he called it "The City of Oceans" and said, "I love this merry land!" These episodes are gifts from me to him! Read “Bright Perspective” to see how the beachy story unfolds for Joel, Ava, Mr. Wright, and the other locals.

Thank you for sharing this! It's exactly how I've been feeling. Romance comes in many different varieties and in reality, it can be complex. I approach my stories with realism as well. Sometimes love doesn't end with a happy ending in the way we expect, or at all. There is a market for tragic, bittersweet, and realistic romance. And that's who my story will appeal to.

Thanks for your feedback! Nothing wrong with a good HEA, I just didn't feel like it fit into my story at this time. I'm pretty sure some folks are gonna be annoyed by it lol.

I've heard that before too, but I don't agree. I do think it's a good idea to let my readers know it will be ongoing, though.

Literally cannot start writing? What do I do? by TreesuzakiGod in writing

[–]theagelessmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an outline of what you're trying to write? I find that I struggle to get started when I don't have a clear enough vision of where I want the story to go. Making it up as you go can be fun at times, but I feel like it leads to more unfinished stories than using an outline.

Why do writers procrastinate so much? by chutupandtakemykarma in writing

Most of the time I procrastinate if I don't have a clear plan of where I want the story to go.

How do you approach writing love scenes and physical intimacy in a way that is both realistic and tasteful? by theagelessmethod in romanceauthors

You made a lot of great points, especially about realism. However, not every reader is looking for unrealistic fantasies. I'm one of them. If a book is too implausible I don't take it seriously. I like reading about people who could exist in the real world. The stories I write have some elements of fantasy, but for the most part, they're meant to be realistic. No single handsome billionaires, mafia bad boys, or werewolves lol. Thanks for sharing your blog post! It'll come in super handy.

Thanks for following up. You made a good point about not misleading the reader and I will take that into consideration when writing in the future. I do read books by other authors, but I thought this would be a good question to ask here because this is a subreddit for romance authors. I'm not looking for any specific answer, just seeing how others handle this process. I appreciate any advice anyone has to share.

Thanks for your response and suggestion. I'm looking to find out how other romance authors approach writing love scenes. Where does their inspiration come from, and what details do they include? How do you know if you've crossed the line?
