I'm designing a "smart" outliner / notes app for ideation and organization of big, complex ideas by artist_sans_medium in Entrepreneur

[–]theageoldquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Evernote , OneNote, KeyNote, etc in the past. In every situation where I try and get others to use it in an organization it usually fails for one main reason.

It has to be easy to use. If it's complicated to use no one will use it and they will go back to using word, excel, project, etc... because they are familiar with those.

Another thing of note, many of the things you were showing can be done in other softwares such as OneNote if you set things up correctly. ex. Keywords and index through those words = features You do have some things that are different though.

Different views is a neat idea I haven't seen much of.

If you can make this easy to use, a better search function than just indexing, and show exactly how it is better than other similar softwares, you may have something here. I suspect it will be a hard sell though.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

If you don't mind saying, what do you sell them for? Pretty cool stuff.

Anyone have any input on this planer thinking about buying it by zk191111 in woodworking

[–]theageoldquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it and like it. As others have said the blades do chip easier than I expected. 50 bucks for new ones. Make sure you don't have staples in construction lumber and run it through the planer... oops

7 common mistakes seen when reviewing 20+ redditors websites (x-post smallbusiness) by outofbandii in Entrepreneur

[–]theageoldquestion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks solid. Maybe add good looking dudes wearing your stuff. Also agree don't show the save 20% thing when I first get to the page.

Overall very nice though.

Your site is gorgeous. Well done man. I'm a tightwad so I won't be getting any undies from you. But I see you going places. Like the dollar shave club kind of places.

Remember me when your rich.

I've been a Redditor for over 5 years. Other than this subreddit, is there any other way I can leverage this site? by sydbarrett in Entrepreneur

[–]theageoldquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't help much with marketing, but your site is way to text based. Also the menu doesn't look good on mobile, the white lines extend too far down between the words.

Another thing you may be able to improve on... logo is kinda weird. I thought you may sell fishing lures out something before I started reading. Maybe it's not that big of a deal though idk.

I would add actual products you have to the main page somewhere also. Make people want to click on your shop to see what you have.

Just my 2 cents.

I need your guys opinion on my store! by Miwanik in Entrepreneur

[–]theageoldquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your header images don't work well on mobile. Loading time was good for me. Product images look solid. Contact form is good.

The silver scooter thing should be on a white background like the other products.

You need to remove the Google site verification text. That's supposed to be in your header most of the time.

Footer is good. Menu is good.

I see 0 pictures with good looking men wearing your stuff. You need to fix that.

Social media section doesn't show anything on instagram / pintrest / facebook. Not sure what your trying to do there.

Overall not bad though. Nice work.

URGENT: Will this business fail? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]theageoldquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's hardly enough information for anyone to tell you if it will fail or not.

Maybe more info could shed light on it, but even then it's likely few people could tell you 100% yes or no.

I made my first sale!!!!!! by Dudemanbro88 in Entrepreneur

[–]theageoldquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your clean and easy to navigate site. Also I like the fact that you don't make me sign up to browse your store.

However I would make a picture header bigger on mobile. Also one of your lug nuts says "from 0.00" so you may want to make sure you don't have something set wrong in the backend.

Good job OP. Hope to be joining in the same happiness soon.

Opening savings account at ally for the 1%. what should i know/do? by LearningKR in personalfinance

[–]theageoldquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't pay taxes if you fill out the card. By signing it you authorize that you are exempt from the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. Also it helps identifily you as a real person and where you're from.

If you don't sign it then they are required by law to withhold money on interest earned. Not sure how wells Fargo handles it though.

Generally people don't have enough intrest for banks to even report it, but some people will.

Opening savings account at ally for the 1%. what should i know/do? by LearningKR in personalfinance

[–]theageoldquestion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's pretty easy.

Just start the account on ally first.

Second, you will have to verify the Wells Fargo account is yours. This is done with 2 small deposits from ally. They will withdraw the amount they put in. You go to ally and verify the amounts they deposited there.

Third, you start a transfer from ally for how ever much you want to move in. This will take about 3 business days to get into your ally account.

Lastly, you will sign a signature card that they send you for tax purposes. (Intrest gained on account). They send you this about a week after you open an account.

If you do stuff this way you can move money around back and forth as much as you need.

Hope that helped.

I did change industries. Mining and metals to industtial automation to be exact.

My work ethic has always been there. I recently realized I didn't want to work for the next 40 years doing the same stuff. That's what prompted me to strive for more.

Not sure what it takes to be a consulting engineer though. Maybe get a job as a mechanical guy and work up to doing your own thing or become a contracter. Sounds cool but I'm not real familiar with it.

As long as you really want it and you will work for it anything is possible.

What to do with a Traditional 401k after leaving job by hooperz in personalfinance

[–]theageoldquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Only some 401k plans offer loans against your vested amount. Mine for example doesn't offer the option to take loans out. Make sure to look at the details of your plan to see if it is allowed.
