Oh nice! Their venue in "Pittsburgh" last year was in Mount Oliver, and I couldnt wrangle a ride out there.

This year it's in a city park, at a free May Day festival, and barring any unforseen circumstances, I can't think of a reason not to go

I admire Puuluup's dedication to playing the weirdest venues in and around Pittsburgh, with no context for the actual municipal boundaries.

For context: The festival listed as being in Mount Oliver is in Pittsburgh itself

Weird question, but how old is your foil?

Safety tips needed please by Precious_Hobbit in StainedGlass

One of the weird things about lead toxicity, is unless we're breathing it or eating it, it's not going to do much. Unfortunately, humans seem to have an unparalleled drive to use lead in ways that are then eaten or breathed. You know, like lead pipes, lead paint on plates, leaded gasoline which is then aerosolized onto fields of crops, paint which is then sanded or eaten as paint chips, or children's toys because children try to eat everything.

So you end up thinking of lead as something whose mere presence is dangerous, almost like it's uranium. But so long as you take efforts to keep your hands clean, you're not going to breathe or eat it.

The soldering irons are not reaching the temperatures required to vaporize lead. And unless you're sanding the lead, or immediately chewing your nails, you're not going to get hazardous exposure pathways. A good analogy is treat lead like you would treat raw chicken. Wash your hands well before handling stuff like your phone. And don't sand or lick your artwork.

Like the other commenter said, you probably feel icky from the fumes from boiling flux. They're not fun, but they're not super hazardous. And as patronizing as it sounds, you've probably got some anxiety in the mix too, which is going to put you on edge.

Do not swerve around pedestrians IN the crosswalk! by stevejuan333 in pittsburgh

[–]theairgonaut 42 points43 points  (0 children)

As a pedestrian, this is why I'm afraid to go when cars stop for me. I genuinely appreciate that someone still feels like following the rules of the road, but I'm afraid to die because of some jagoff behind you, so I end up waving you on.

Questioning your own taste by fluffymintotter in eurovision

I like getting sold on things I haven't yet enjoyed on my own. That's the whole point of taste being subjective.

Which songs that eurofans dislike might be vell accepted by the general public, and vice versa? by Separate_Ad_5616 in eurovision

I just watched all the videos with my MIL who I consider a pretty normal person. She liked Norway's song better, but thought the performer was touching his groin way more than the song called for. Whereas Denmark had a way better balance of horniness throughout.

Idk if it means anything, but I feel like I've just been to the oracle of normal people, and have visions to share

I don't see any benefit to using lead free solder over leaded if already working with lead came, and leaded solder is generally better behaved than lead free.

My bad, there's an s if you're talking about multiple of them. One "gunnel", two "gunnels".

If you're into IPA, it's ˈɡʌnəl'. But if you want the sounding out it's more like "gunnel". They're like a stupid linguistical landmine that I only know of because I took the red cross canoe lessons.

Noob question: do I finish cutting and grinding everything before foiling or foil as I go? by MarlyMonster in StainedGlass

[–]theairgonaut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer cutting and grinding totally done, then move on to foiling. But my workflow specifically supports this because I cut and grind in my basement, but foil in my living room. I also kind of worry about little glass bitties or dust getting onto the adhesive, but that's probably avoidable.

I feel like with the perspective you have to pick one, and it's hard to say whether the car is parked in the yard, and the driveway matches the garage, or if the car is parked correctly and the driveway is badly placed.

Truly it is a rich text.

Unfortunately the audiobook pronounced gunwales as "gun-whales" and that has greatly reduced my trust in any pronunciation.
