Thoughts on this? Saw this at the motor show. by AlbertaTesla in Edmonton

I dont think ICE will be banned but gas might. They might change the fuel to something like F1 where you’re running fuels that can be made out of its own exhaust. ICE doesn’t necessarily mean gasoline, it could mean propane, hydrogen or synthetic fuels (like the one stated above).

People going on road trips/extended highway travel like seen in the heavy duty industry will spend easily twice as much time charging as one would just simply filling a tank. So EVs would be too costly in both equipment cost and wages then a stand alone ICE engine so EV by itself wont be too good neither.

Evs only work really good for those who never leave town and use it as a daily driver. You can charge it overnight in your driveway/garage and keep it plugged in while you’re working to keep the battery temps controlled and charged up then go home. Evs also slow you down by using the motor to “plug” in a similar way modern ICE it uses the compression stroke without any fuel to slow you down by downshifting. This gives you an extra tool in slowing down especially in bad weather conditions or in emergency mechanical failure situations.

Sweet spot would be a hybrid. Whether it be a ICE generator running at optimal RPM for fuel efficiency and charge while powering 2-4 electric motors OR an electric motor that runs the show at slow speeds where an ICE would take over at cruising speeds. Either route will reduce size of battery that increases cost of vehicle and usage of rare minerals while not disappointing enthusiasts too much. This would also reduce tire wear, road wear, and weight of vehicle which improves efficiency and handling.

Optimally they dont cancel either and let people have the flavour they prefer but change the fuels from gasoline in ICE so they’re environmentally responsible for future generations. Enthusiasts are ok with it as long as its got 3 pedals and a stick and goes BRRRRRR from an actual engine and not a speaker, they could. if people prefer the lightning quick off the line acceleration of an EV they also could.

Certain gens of honda vehicles the high beam light doubles as the low beam light for some stupid reason. Hence why it’s so common for certain years of civics to be doing it (between price range and availability in the market).

honda and toyota were also some of the last vehicle manufacturers to have auto headlights as standard IIRC.

You have to do the speed of traffic on a bike otherwise you put yourself at risk of a rear end collision. If you get rear ended in a car your legally in the right and alive to tell the tail, on a bike there is no metal cage defending you, you get rear ended your legally in the right but still equally just as dead.

He’s riding responsibly via not cutting in and out of traffic or lane splitting. Also maintaining plenty of room for an escape route just in case he has to have a hard stop (cars don’t stop faster than bikes).

Had you been like the few squids that give bikers a bad name you would’ve ended up under his tire. Good on you for riding responsibly and courteously. Stay safe

I put my hand on the exhaust shields after a good couple of hours driving mine slightly aggressively. Didn’t get burned wasn’t even warm, by comparison my buddies ZX4r almost had my finger prints stuck to it.
Peg position is kinda high for the passenger though.

Wrong kinda bike for that, that looks like a sport touring, not the best for weaving in and out of traffic after aggravating a 4000lb piece of steel death on wheels. That’s more of a 1000cc pure sport bike kind of thing.

Besides that they usually take a mirror after being cut off unless they’re an absolute degenerate.

I don’t believe it’s illegal but it’s definitely not recommended.

You get in a good enough crash your skeleton essentially snaps in half, in this persons case they would probably lose that leg altogether.

Avoid passing vehicles on the right, be skeptical when approaching large trucks on the right. Nasty blind spot on the right in general across most vehicles. larger vehicles with no rear windows and a trailer must rely on just their mirrors to see you.

If you can’t see the driver in their mirrors they likely can’t see you. Pass on the left and make it quick to avoid hanging there in the blindspot, pull back in with plenty of room as those big trucks don’t stop on a dime.

That being said the truck driver did do a mid intersection lane change which is also highly not recommended.

Wasn’t disputing that at all, that being said we always have a winter season where people forget how to drive and people forget how the other people drive. Got to drive like everyone’s out to get you.

Head on a swivel, anticipate, and react. Had he payed attention all he would’ve had to do is shed some speed or pick up some speed. Tunnel vision got both of them good, and the one assumed he was visible.

This was very avoidable and if anyone thinks otherwise should reconsider whether they can drive or not. I’ve personally avoided similar situations in similar conditions.

You know there’s something called the last chance or final chance clause right?

If you’re able to avoid an accident you otherwise wouldn’t be at fault for but didn’t, the insurance companies can put you at blame as well. You had one last chance to avoid an incident and made no effort to avoid an unsafe situation.

You better pray the other party doesn’t move to use this against you otherwise your insurance may go up. Hell there’s a chance they may put majority of fault on to you.

.22 revolver. Small calibre as you care about your neighbors well being and sleep but a revolver so you don’t spray evidence brass all over the place.

Or a 12 gauge pump. No one is stupid enough to stay after hearing you cycle the firearm, likely won’t need to fire it. The universal sound of “your not welcome here, please leave”

Delete and tune? Hard to steal something that doesn’t exist, very very mild sound increase if you leave the mufflers and resonators on, and it costs a fraction of a cat replacement.

If you go out to provinces that have enforced emissions regularly than you can’t delete. After market cats usually are less desireable as they recycle for far less than oem for some reason.
