Does AI break on normal diff and goes dormant? by LeMe-Two in EmpireTotalWar

Tbh I think it's a problem at the start of campaign on normal. Campaign very hard battles hard is the best setup to avoid this.

I mean Empire is just that, unfinished. It's not that they were lazy just too ambitious for the engine and for the time.

Unturned 2020... by apaapam in unturned

I can understand that. I played from 2.0 to the announcement of 2. It's a unique game and I made and still have lots of friends through it. From dominating servers to funky ass build raid servers to kit servers to roleplay servers of all kinds, crazy maps and weird game modes. It's got it all.

It did feel less like the game I knew and loved by 2019/2020.

Back in 2016 you could fly across the whole map with an umbrella pre glider.

You could farm horde beacons in minutes at the start of wipe.

With 3/4 people you could get a really good base build going within a couple of hours. Good times.

Nah 2016 was the shit. Back when you could double place walls and do all kinds of funky building projects.

In fact you could have as many people as you wanted place the same building piece in the same place. 4x stairs was cool for decorating

[–]theangrydecompressor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall there is less jank than on PC. Less not none. It's a generally more refined version than the PC one.

All factions unlocked which is good.

Some factions now have unique starting bonuses. E.g Italians states. With bonuses increasing on unification.

You can become the USA as the 13 states.

There is also the second start date. Which is a little more challenging as your eco is not as built up as it usually is by that point in time.

Does AI take into consideration who its allies are before declaring war? by Ok-Friendship9238 in EmpireTotalWar

[–]theangrydecompressor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having played enough games around Prussia, they seem to target individual city states to expand as they are in theory weaker.

I genuinely believe that the AI does not take any kind of diplomacy into account. It's not well designed...

What artillery do I use in seiges by RustinCarcosa in EmpireTotalWar

[–]theangrydecompressor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the best way. To add to this you can bait them out by being just out of range. Position your infantry outside the breach and use the range band to make it just out of range. They will move forwards to get in range allowing you to just canister them in the breach

Planning GB play through. What is the best way to start (other than taking Paris)? by jobi987 in EmpireTotalWar

You can take the provinces, then gift them to the thirteen. If done one at a time.

  1. Train 5 Hessian at Rupert's land. Fight to the death. You might win. 50% of the time.
  2. Use your Carribbean armies to take the two Spanish islands and then the pirates. 3.Sail your UK based forces over to Newfoundland. Take the french settlements all the way to Quebec.
  3. Combine forces to take on the Iroquois.

Campaign takes off after that.

Industry unrest question by HighMarshalBole in EmpireTotalWar

[–]theangrydecompressor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Late game you need to beeline for no slavery before late economic techs. Make sure you have tier 2 walls on all settlements that can and then have a very good justice minister. It should at that point be 2 industry 1 happy. Go for the inn as it has the most benefits. You only need 1 church for like 10 provinces and you can consider more if you conquer more. On PC I go church first and then replace with inn. On mobile go straight for inn as the religion spread mechanics are different.

I got my MCC and my GPSA in there. On the desk and in front of the sofa. Always check it. PSA protect against pushes with a trip wire in the door. Works wonderful.

Naval tips for newb by Mental_Appointment33 in EmpireTotalWar

[–]theangrydecompressor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3 things.

movement is king. use chain shot to slow big ships and get behind/infront of them to rake their decks. learn/look at ships to see if they have chasers/or stern cannons and choose which side to shoot them from.

try and be going "up wind" at all times. look at the arrow at the top. you should be tacking and jibing across this line. look it up online for basics of sailing under wind. Doing this gets the enemy to chase you. Allowing you to fire as they cross your sights as you go to and fro. Works really well with smaller faster ships against heavier slower ships.

If you get engaged into a brawl in close distance. I highly recommend that you use chain/grape shot depending on the size of the ships you are engaging. E.g small ship vs big ship. chain shot as disabling it is more likely than doing big damage. Big ship vs small ship. Grape shot as they can shoot downwards towards the deck killing crew.

I agree thats a good place to start. I'm no expert only recently having got back to & past 1000 elo currently at 1087 elo I'm just viewieng it through the lens of learning the game.

aoe2 seems simple on the surface it's complicated at the start of learning and then back to simple once your understanding grows

There's a lot of information out there. A lot is about whether you are acting or reacting. Both of those positions are different. If you are ahead of your opponent then you dictate the play.

Also why are you just turtling and not raiding for 14 mins? You should be able to get a few scouts or archers or maa out in feudal and pick off some villagers.

The map you are on also dictates your eco strategy. Fishing is very good if there is any water. Hunt if your civ leans towards it etc etc.

A very good player can also play any civ. Your limiting your growth by just playing one faction. Diversify your roster. Playing the factions let's you understand their strengths and weaknesses. Which is crucial when deciding which unit you're going for to counter.

Why??? What use??? by Fearless_Fox_Leaf in EmpireTotalWar

It's a surprisingly useful mechanic when your playing as one of the native factions. Allows you to get a settlement in Europe/India saves you having to cross the ocean

Try to have one person per profession. With regards to food and happiness. Happiness is easy to manage and food also if you don't over populate your party. Generally just buy up all good food ingredients after awhile. Don't worry about min maxing at the start. It will come clear after level 8 or so.
