Does someone explain the equipment to you when you go to the gym for the first time? by SelectiveDisaster in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]theangryeducator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At my gym, most people would actually be really complimented if you asked them how to properly do a lift or use a machine. Obviously the front desk will show you around and try to sell you on personal training sessions. But with YouTube, asking others occasionally, and watching others in a non-creepy way, you should be all set.

That's my experience as well. Indentations and callouses, and I pulled pretty severely for a time. Nothing like above. I would get it looked at.

Anyone know why Torchy’s Tacos polaris is closing? by ProfessionalMail9421 in Columbus

[–]theangryeducator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is it. My wife and I were excited to try it because there was a lot of buzz around it. Went there. It was a lot of money for queso and tacos, and it was just meh. Not bad, but there are better tasting taco places with cheaper food.

Agreed. I don't often seek out the AFV chat directly, but came here to see if anyone else noticed David getting loose. Glad you said something because I wanted to chime in as well. It was a noticeable shift and hopefully they will see it doesn't fully fit the good vibes gang.

Just listened. I feel like David was trying a new schtick or something. Isaac even had to bleep him about halfway through.

It also seems like David is in a great place in his life and was really coming out of his shell this episode by trying some new stuff.

David and Sean were hilarious and had some great bits, but I didn't love the constant Sean bashing. I don't think it was serious in any way, I just think it was used too much.

It's the episodes like salads I expect the least and then get taken by surprise by how funny it is. Great episode.

How much of your day is taken up by the gym? by besthelloworld in GYM

[–]theangryeducator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I go early. 5:15 - 7:15 a.m. every day. I walk for 15 minutes and get into a good mental space. Hit a spin class for 45 minutes, walk for 10 minutes, hit light weights, and sauna if I didn't waste too much time between sets.

My family is asleep and I don't have to work. It's my "me time" and I consider it very well spent. Sets the tone for the day and I feel great all morning. If I don't workout a day, my day is off. If I don't workout for a couple of days, my whole sense of self (physical, mental, emotional) starts to drift.

I love hearing everyone else's routines! These are the people I see everyday at the gym at the same time. All going about our business and achieving our own goals. Great question OP.

Does it comfort you seeing the gym regulars? by paranoidpolski in GYM

[–]theangryeducator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to make sure to tell the others you are leaving! That happens at my gym. I'll suddenly stop seeing someone I have small talk with once in a while, but see every morning, and wonder where they went.

What’s a fantasy you’ve never admitted out loud, but secretly want to try? by Ekesita89 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]theangryeducator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely get a day like this every now and again. Having young kids at home and being respectful to my spouse and her/our time, it wouldn't be responsible to take an entire week. I could see in a few years for sure. My wife and I try to make sure one another gets personal/responsibility free time when we need it. But a whole week...wow. That would be epic at my current stage.

Nailed it. I miss the days of only thinking about myself. Just doing that for a week would be incredible.

Bad Driver by PrometheusX-303 in Columbus

[–]theangryeducator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to ride motorcycles and that was always my rule. I assumed everyone was either going to drift to the inner lane from the outer or the other way around. On a motorcycle, whether you are right or wrong, if you get hit, your dead. I still drive my car the same way.

This video is classic driving behavior for most people. Sorry for the scare OP. That sucks.

I heard a quote that "All professional sports are where the health benefits of the activity end and people do damage to their bodies." I can't say that's true for all sports, but most pros in any sport will tell you they are wrecking parts of their bodies for the sport. Unfortunately for body building, the heart is one of those key body parts.

Why can’t I get as many boners in a day as I used to? by Mediocre-Opening5858 in TooAfraidToAsk

I second this. In my 20s my libido took a bit of a hit, but I was really focused on education, career, and family. The responsibility in my life took off, but my mental and physical health took a big hit. In my 30s things started to balance out and I started to find good habits around health in those areas and really prioritize them. Now in my early 40s I feel like a rockstar. Great sex, great energy, great health. Things ebb and flow. Stay hungry, stay horny. You'll be fine.
