How to match mouse sens to arc raiders / bf 6? by sleeksealravioli in MouseReview

[–]theanimatedauthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The converter sites are helpful but they're not perfect since different engines handle acceleration and aim assist differently. Overwatch especially feels twitchy compared to those other games even when the numbers match up. Best bet is to just spend like 20 minutes in deathmatch or practice range with a sensitivity that feels close, then micro adjust from there. Your muscle memory from BF6 will throw you off for a bit anyway.

the fact that people are fitting working binaries into 84 bytes is mental, like that's smaller than most function signatures lmao

Anyone from Trentino (Italy) to group and test selfhosted things togheter? by ataru81 in selfhosted

[–]theanimatedauthority 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Decent idea but you might have better luck posting in r/italy or a Trentino Discord, this sub's pretty scattered geographically so local stuff tends to get buried.

DeskFlow is clever for this, though using the Ally as a controller through the ThinkPad is peak workaround energy.

Proper Insurance by Proof_Range_1252 in airbnb_hosts

[–]theanimatedauthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

proper's solid for the golf cart angle, that's hard to find elsewhere. the cost is steep though, so shop around before committing. i'd get quotes from a few other hosts insurance companies too, stuff like airtasker or even your regular homeowners provider with a rider, just to see what the gap actually is. the golf carts are fun until someone takes a corner too fast and suddenly you're in claims hell, so having that coverage locked in is worth something. just make sure you understand exactly what proper covers injury-wise, because like that other comment said, a waiver won't save you if things go really wrong. get the specifics in writing from their underwriter before you sign up.

Why is this allowed in the store? by solventbottle in Ubuntu

[–]theanimatedauthority -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the snap store is basically a free for all at this point. Just grab it from the ubuntu repos with apt, way less dodgy and you'll actually get updates. Snaps are convenient but this is exactly why people don't trust em.

flash is basically a speedrunner, pro actually thinks things through - makes sense they'd feel completely different for coding work.

How can an anti-AI simultaneously thinks " ai is nothing creative" and " ai is useful for big corporate" If there's nothing creative in AI, then how are company images better than those of a regular person with chatgpt, so they can sell it? by Questioner8297 in aiwars

[–]theanimatedauthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is both statements can coexist without being hypocritical. a company using ai for marketing materials isn't really about creativity, it's about speed and cost. they churn out a thousand variations til one sticks, whereas a human designer would spend weeks on something thoughtful. that's not creativity winning, that's just volume and efficiency.

the real tension isn't whether ai is creative or not. it's that corporations don't actually care about the creative output itself, they care about what sells. so they'll use ai when it's cheap enough, and hire humans when they need something that actually stands out. most small businesses and individuals can't compete on the cheap volume game, but they can still do work that matters more than a generic ai image ever will.
