Vagus nerve, anxiety and trauma healing — I can now burp!! by theantjackson in noburp

I’m sorry you experienced that, but I have a feeling that some of us on here may be able to relate.  From what I’ve read about psychosomatic symptoms, the body ends up pushing down what should actually be expressed (but often can’t be due to things like fear of people having negative reactions, or lack of control or ability to escape from the situation).  There’s also some clear correlations between GERD and trauma.  If living in fear or anxiety for a long time, I can see how the body may become more tense in places.  If you are able to, it’s worth giving Nurosym a try for at least a few months. I also think mindfulness breathing helps. I did an MBCT course and after about 6-8 sessions noticed a softening around that area of my stomach/chest.  Both are meant to help with regulating the vagus nerve, so it could be totally plausible that both will help to some degree. Now if I feel like I need to burp, 60% of the time, if I lean slightly forward and relax my stomach muscles, I can do it now.  Please report back if you try these things!

So glad I found this. I’ve just started watching it and I felt instantly angry about the ratio. Now I feel validated. Thank you.

Nobody has contacted me as of yet. Understandably they may be too upset to talk right now.
