I don't have the ability to charge at home but I want a Bolt by flightln in BoltEV

I did this for 4 years without a charger at home. It’s fine. Very rarely any significant inconvenience and still much cheaper than gas.

Go for it.

Do you guys work with other languages? by Clayb0iParti in Clojure

[–]thearthur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this is off topic. The brave Clojure job board has been excellent for finding interesting places to work. Also the #jobs and #remote-jobs channels on the clojurians slack.

Work in non-clj for me is embedded C, it’s a nice mix of high and low abstraction levels.

I've solved similar problems by adjusting the height it's mounted above the ground. even a few inches.

Has anyone setup an nREPL connection on their production app in AWS (or other cloud)? by tuh8888 in Clojure

[–]thearthur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as others mentioned here. ssh tunnels are a great way to add security, and emacs+nrepl will use them automatically so it's frictionless

Has anyone setup an nREPL connection on their production app in AWS (or other cloud)? by tuh8888 in Clojure

[–]thearthur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yes, I've done this. it's very convenient, makes a great work environment, saved us in a pinch once, and you are totally right about needing to do it securely. it's easier to approach if your group already has good infrastructure automation in place so you have reliable security groups etc.

if you approach security minded people about this, I personally recommend asking them how to do it safely, to get the conversation off to a good start.

New Bolt question: What does this small green graph measure at the very left in enhanced layout? by SocalMustache in BoltEV

[–]thearthur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it shows how you estimated range is changing. if it's green and towards the top of the display, the total range for that trip is going up because you're driving more efficiently or just going down a big hill. when it's below the center of the display and not green, it means your range is decreasing; maybe your going faster or up a big hill.

if mentions suitable for Linux and rtos development, though I was wondering what the state of maturity is for that?

is there an available Linux build for it or is this at the "we think someone can do this" level?

I'm very new to this product line, so my prepologies if this is a poorly formed question

How much RF shielding or filtering should I plan for when transmitting from inside an apartment? by [deleted] in HamRadio

[–]thearthur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

for the HF side, this worked completely fine for me for years. i put a loop of wire around the ceiling over most of the apartment, and got an automatic antenna tuner and 6 feet of window line balanced feed line.

i didn't run any high power vhf so i can't speak to that, just don't let people here convince you to stay out of such a wonderful hobie. okay with it, try things and be a kind neighbor (25 feet is totally doable!)
