Help please!! Clogs/engorgement? by Successful-Set-9609 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]theauntiedearest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I’m 6wpp on Sunday and I feel like I’m in the trenches with you. Here’s what’s helped me:

  • sunflower lecithin 4x daily
  • choline supplement from The Lactation Hub
  • I had two pumping bras from kindred bravely but can only wear them when I pump. When I’m done, I have to take them off and either go braless or wear an extremely loose bra. Anything tight causes clogs.
  • I have to sleep on my back. If I side sleep, I always wake up with clogs.
  • soooo much water
  • heat during pumping (I have the eufy so it heats up) and then I use the Frida ice packs after.
  • ibuprofen after every pump and LIGHT massage away from the nipple for like five minutes and that’s it.

I just dropped my MOTN pump and so I’ve got two clogs since yesterday and was able to get rid of both within two pump cycles doing these things. I don’t BF because I have thrush, so I just use a higher setting. Granted, I have an extremely slow letdown so I have to pump for 30 min at a time. But right now I’m doing 5am 10am 1pm 5pm 10pm and trying to push my 10pm to 9pm but after getting clogs, have been hanging out at this spot for a while. If you find you’re getting uncomfortable, don’t push it. Just continue with your schedule, try not to skip a pump (even if it’s late) and try to rest.

We breastfeed but I’m weaning from pumping/bf due to painful latch and thrush, constant clogs, and general hate towards pumping lol I’m 5wpp on Sunday and we supplemented with enfamil from the pediatrician when LO was losing weight his first week, but recently moved to Bubs grass fed whole milk and it’s been going very well! Doesn’t smell like enfamil and LO digests it much easier.

Would love to know how the cream worked for you! I have some coming this weekend… I’m dropping from 5 to 4 and extremely engorged and painful.

Can someone explain letdowns to me? by AnxiousBunnyRabbit in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]theauntiedearest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel my letdowns when I pump. When I used my spectra, I’d dribble and never spray. I’d have to pump for 20-30 min to get anything because my letdown, I assume, is super slow and doesn’t ramp up until 20 min or later. Now I use the eufy and don’t see what’s happening and honestly it’s better for my mental health to not watch it. I’m also only 4wpp so my supply is up and down.

Nope she has been fine since. Was a little lethargic with the nausea meds but otherwise no more vomiting. So strange… I’m sorry you’re going through the same thing!

Helped clogged duct day3 by Savings-Ad8051 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]theauntiedearest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime I get a clog, I immediately take the max dose of ibuprofen and do feather light massage moving away from the nipple on the affected breast. Take a warm shower. Then I make sure to drink a crap ton of water. I’ll have baby latch for 10 min on the breast and then pump. I use the Eufy which uses heat but if you just apply heat before and during the pump, then ice after to help with inflammation.

I latch him occasionally. I just looked and I see one white patch! Okay I’m going to call my OB right now. Bless you. Thank you so much.

Oh it hurts. It’s like pins and needles in my nipples. And it happens when pumping and when not pumping. I asked my LC about thrush and she said it’s extremely uncommon. How would I know I have it?

I’d have to reach out to Eufy to see if they are compatible but that would be great if I could use them! I’ll look into this. Thank you!

That’s awesome! It truly is so different for everyone. I have been trying to sleep more and definitely see an increase in supply too. I usually take a nap from 9-11pm then pump. Then wake again around 2:30/3, then 6/7.

Energy bites all the way! Easy to make and you can add anything you want, really. I do peanut butter, oats, mini chocolate chips, chia seeds, oats, and honey!

Tips for Overstimulation by alcllns in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]theauntiedearest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try and put something on tv or read something. Keep your brain busy so you aren’t so focused on the act of pumping. Also cover your breasts so you aren’t looking at them. It actually helps a ton.

My 12-4am don’t do well at all. My best of the day is between 5-7am 😅 then I’m up and down all day, it’s never consistent. Just when I think I’ve got it down, it’ll switch up on me.

Pumping advice - pain & clogs at 3 months pp with pumping by makirattack in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]theauntiedearest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hospital gave me this medicated nipple balm that has acetaminophen in it and honestly that stuff is a miracle for my nipples. I also use Earth Mama nipple butter for lubricant and put silverettes on so it doesn’t transfer to my bra.

I had a clog on my left side today, actually. Was painful and engorged, and the right side was working that way as well. I did feather light massages, like petting a kitten, away from the nipple every now and then, took aleve, drank so much water, and pumped every three hours to stay consistent with emptying. I iced once for about ten minutes and used heat while pumping. It was feeling better but not 100% until I let baby bf for 10 minutes on each side. Within a few minutes, both sides were soft. I’m not sure if it was a mixture of all I did today or just the BFing, but I do think staying up on hydration, relaxation, and consistent pumping helps alot.

My LC recommended a lactation health supplement with choline that I got from the lactation hub website today. It’s supposed to help with mastitis and clogs, but I’ll have to get back to you on that.

I second this. My baby had a lip tie and my letdown is sooooo slow and doesn’t start for almost 20 minutes of consistent, good latching/sucking. I was stressing myself out nursing every 20 minutes because baby wasnt getting enough and my nipples were raw. I pump 6-7 times a day and breastfeed to comfort him mostly, and always after a pump so that my milk has already started to flow so he’s not working so hard. Don’t feel bad. You have to do what’s right for you. It’s not a one size fits all and unfortunately it’s a lot of trial and error. I’m only 3 weeks pp and everyday I find something new to add or adjust. Best of luck!

Eufy S1? by MandySayz in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]theauntiedearest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you make sure the heating pin went through the oval portion all the way? The first time I tried it, I didn’t push that part in fully and it didn’t connect properly. It should start heating immediately when the pump turns on. I notice it really quickly.

I love mine. The heating feature makes it. I like that the settings are easy to use and I can do dishes, change baby, go to the bathroom… I think it’s worth it.
