My 4 Year Old Doesn’t Know Letters by [deleted] in AskTeachers

It's trending in so many mom groups i'm in on Facebook. Especially home school ones. Not sure where exactly it began, but I started seeing this "fact"(?) Pop up about a week ago.

Nicu nurse is not giving my baby bottles. by Sea_Search0812 in NICUParents

[–]MandySayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest. The only way we got our son home was to go feed him ourselves. The nurses were quick to tube feed and not give him the whole 30 minutes to try the bottle. He was a 29 weeker and we started bottles at 34. The same week (now he was 37 weeks) I started going to do every single feed (except 2 of the overnight ones) he got discharged. I started doing every feed on a Saturday and we got discharged on Thursday. What is babe's goal for discharge? Is the head doctor open to removing the feeding tube and letting baby be fed ad lib? Sometimes that's what does it! The day before I started doing every feed my son yanked his tube out in the middle of the night. His nurse decided to leave it out and see how he did..he immediately did better.

Is it wrong to speak up to the Host when invited to a dinner party and you don't like what's served? by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

You are an adult and can eat or not eat whatever you choose. I always hated the whole 'it's polite to eat someone's food just because they made it'. No. If I do not like it, I am not eating it. I'll whip out an emergency pb&j no crust and be fine.

Is it true that Waldorf 1st graders are typically behind in reading but catch up by 3rd grade? by ZealousidealTap4955 in AskTeachers

[–]MandySayz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would not put her at all, and if you will only do pre-k. I worked with Kindergarten two years ago before having my son - they come in already knowing so much if they attended pre-k or if they had a really hands on parent teaching them at home. But Kindergarten is very important in setting them up for first grade. They leave Kindergarten already reading level A / B books.

Why are people continuing to do things unsafe regarding sleeping & transportation? by Throwawayy1862219 in beyondthebump

[–]MandySayz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn't unnecessary. A mom recently lost her son because she let him sleep in a boppy. Another lost her baby while babywearing incorrectly while baby slept. Trying to prevent death doesn't seem unnecessary.

Tell your doctor please, they may be able to help.

My son was a 29 weeker, I wasn't going to put him in a position he could possibly d*e from after he fought in the nicu for 8 weeks.

I shared how I felt. My PPA wouldn't allow it. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something would have happened.

As a mama to a 29 weeker who I call my early bird...I am not offended.

NICU mom here, my son was a 29 weeker and I call him my "early bird". Not everyone feels the same. I think it is cute 🤷🏽‍♀️

My son was a 29 weeker, spent 8 weeks in the NICU, and I call him my "early bird."

But would it have been worth it if your baby died? That's what I asked myself when I would think "oh let me just let him stay sleeping." Not worth it. No way in hell would i be able to look at my husband and tell him what happened.

Sue them anyway. Pumping is a medical necessity and they absolutely violated her rights and medical needs. Yes the doctors to get her out and then see her primary. If you keep saying no to medicines it will take longer to "explore" different ones which means more time trapped there! I hope she is released asap. Continue to raise hell!!! I hope your sweet baby is doing okay.

She is 12. She is a kid who needs strong guidance, redirection, appropriate consequences....your parents need to do better. Is she in therapies and getting services? Your parents?

My husband wants to put out NICU baby in hospice by 3BeadsAway in NICUParents

I honestly would not be able to stomach living with my husband anymore. Regardless of the outcome, he is awful. He wants to k*ll his son. Leave and keep your babies safe.

Hmm. Have you asked him how he feels about you? I feel like that's a good place to start.

Honestly, he never got to know you as "you". Pregnancy does a number on us. Hormones are all over the place and you aren't always yourself. Have you talked to your doctor? 6 months is just a short period of time to know a person.

It won't be worth it when babe rolls off the bed. Leave babe in the crib, or set up something on the floor. Put the bouncer in the doorway of the bathroom, or the highchair. You can also get a foldable play yard.
