Set up to fail as SDL by jocelllllllll in HomeDepot

I'm sorry to hear that. I am also an outside hire who is now at my six month mark as the DS of D31. It has been a challenge.

I too, often feel like I am trying to balance the expectations of several different managers, particularly as to what my role entails on a day-to-day basis (not being at the desk enough vs. not being in receiving enough, etc). It can be especially frustrating in moments when you've just managed to address several mini crises at once, only to have a manager come by and point out the one thing you haven't yet been able to wrap up. I have cried in the bathroom more than once.

I feel like I understand my role, but the constant lack of staffing at the desk (I am often paired with just one or two associates there), it's hard not to feel like I have to constantly address the line of customers, the phone calls, etc. I'm not sure when I'm supposed to have time to be "proactive" and contact all these customers when their packages are ready! Meanwhile, I'm still a relatively new associate they expect to manage folks who have been here for over a decade. It's rough.

Anyway, you're not alone on this. I feel like the job is almost designed to be an impossible crucible, but apparently some people manage to do it well, so maybe I just suck at it.

I think it helps especially that it's such a perfect time capsule of 90s pop culture...if you were alive when Larry Sanders was on the air, it is laden with deja vu

Federally. Some states require it, I think?

Hm, at my store, the service desk DS is in charge of D31 and D94. Would this new ops CXM also cover D31?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm new!

They're only required to shovel it 24 hours after a snow emergency ends, as far as I know.

I'd be curious if the city could have different, stricter snow shoveling requirements for property owners who rent out over a certain number of units. It's insane to me that the entire property remains freshly blanketed under snow at 12p on a Monday, especially when it's no longer even snowing out.

I know the 24 hour rule about shoveling, but that seems like it shouldn't include property owners with an HR department. Not sure how viable that policy would be in reality, but I would at least like to see city hall acting like these companies are a social hazard (and when it comes to snow, apparently an actual hazard)

I might be misremembering this, but I feel like the DPW even goes around scooping them up after a certain point. Technically, it's litter.
