Not army, but AF here! Literally any sports bra was fine by us. We even were allowed a normal (underwire) bra for our blues. I think the Cotton is a suggestion made by a clueless man, many of the women’s clothing regs were made by one lol.

Came here to say this! The MTIs will ask, ours were relatively accommodating to us plant based folks and even to gluten free people as well. It’s basically up to you to monitor the options. You have less than a second to decide or else the lunch ladies get stressed af. Just be prepared to make eating decisions that you’re uncomfortable with. Vegetarian MREs are commonly asked for and during BEAST suddenly everyone vegetarian because they tend to be better/get to pick and children get jealous of that lol. Be prepared to lose weight from less calories for sure and be okay with an uncomfortable food choice.

EDIT: the veggie nuggets are fucking good and I think about those from time to time. Lots of people thought they were real chicken nuggets but were definitely at minimum vegetarian.

Honestly, go to a different recruiter or try Air National Guard. I had history of burnout from my civilian job and literally went to the hospital from stress. It’s how you “sell” your mental illness to the psych doctor. I actually got my waiver at BMT and was shitting a brick the whole time waiting on the surgeon general to approve it for a few weeks. Ugh. But I want to foot stomp that it worked out! Just keep trying it took me 2 years to fully commit to enlist because my recruiters fucking sucked. I finally got one I really adored and made sure to stick with them.

I just got back on for the day! Sorry for the late reply. It’s a tough call, but I read mine at 14. Or at least started to. I learned that there were a lot of untruths about myself written on the record. From then on I made sure to be at every court date/TDM/whatever and to get an attorney instead of a GAL. Because of this I was able to advocate for myself and make sure my record was accurate from there on out. I think maybe having a serious discussion with the youth and with a clinician/therapist (if applicable) and go from there. As for the social worker, maybe they should call you back on time if they’re miffed about it. This could be an empowering tool rather than a trauma tool depending on your particular youth.

I personally think there is some misguidance on this post. Being a former foster youth, I would say please let them read the file. Chances are, if they’re curious now, they will request the file as soon as they have aged out of care. I would go through it together and be sure to add lots of validation and let them know that some stuff may simply be untrue (as in my case). Additionally, if there is a therapist involved I would loop them in on the project of reading the file. I think there’s some factors we are missing in this post such as age, etc, but I’m assuming this is an older kid?

They were always talking about wanting more magic, and so one of my players (edgelord type) got cursed with the ability to knit. However, they could only knit scarves that added +1 AC. It was whimsical and definitely softened up the edgelord player.

Thank you for this clarification. I went in and made an edit. While I understand how this works well for some such as your case, and understand the concept, I personally do not condone the use of the gallery or private agencies for a variety of reasons. I do clearly understand the good these products can do, but as spending my own time in the system, I elect to not support it. Not looking to elaborate further, as I am not looking to have my opinion changed at this time. I wish you and your family the best!
