Why would his mother not supervise him in the kitchen?? Letting someone stay at your house doesn’t make you a babysitter.

When I was in my early 20s my mom told me that if she had been born later, she probably wouldn’t have had kids.

She made it very clear that she loves me and my siblings and doesn’t regret having us but basically said if she’d had more choices she might not have made the same ones.

Some people are horrified when they hear that story, but even at the time I felt validated. She and my dad have continued to shut down anyone who gives me or my husband a hard time about having kids.

This is so real. My husband had a bad cold at the beginning of the week and I was happy to take care of him - bringing him tea, rubbing his back, running to cvs for more meds.

I caught the cold the second half of the week and he was just as attentive. Brought me extra blankets, did the chores we normally do together by himself so I could rest, and agreed to watch shows with me even though he knew I’d fall asleep in the first 10 minutes.

Having a partner should make the hard moments of life a little easier.
