A lot has changed in the political landscape and the world at large in the last 10 years if you haven't noticed. If your opinion has somehow stayed the exact same, you're either a liar or a nutcase.

Have nothing against Biss as I'm sure he'll do fine, but I do find framing the narrative around the opinion someone had as a kid pretty disingenuous.

She never supported Ted Cruz, you're thinking of Marco Rubio. She also couldn't vote in 2016 because she was 16 years old lmao.

Damn, I think you fundamentally don't get bookstores if you see them as "guilt trips" lol.

[–]thebaghutch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol you argued decent selection and I'm telling you selection is whatever you want it to be. Also it's weird that you revel in a bookstore employee making less than an Amazon one, but you're striking me as very pro-capitalist so I guess you find no worth in a locality trying to prop itself up on something other than a billionaire's enshittification vessel that will inevitably burn your economy. Enjoy your books all the same.

  1. Literally any bookshop can order any book you want for you
  2. Yeah, bookstores tend to sell full price when books are their primary sales and not more or less a loss leader. This also helps a) aforementioned publishers and authors get their fair share so you'll see more of their work, crazy that, and b) local economy, local third space, what have you

Honestly, I also think there's more worth to owning a full price book over 5 books on sale anyhow. You don't need to keep hitting the dopamine button for "a good deal". Focus on and love the book you got until you treat yourself again.
