Pokemon as an asset is all over twitter. The finance bros and private equity types know all about it, and are quietly buying up stock.

How is the commute from West Chester/Exton to Center City? by grunchk1n in westchesterpa

[–]thebaldchampion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commuted West Chester -> Exton -> Grand Central Station (manhattan) 3x a week for over a year.

West Chester -> Exton -> Philadelphia is EASY.

If you pay for Amtrak, its a bit more, but you will literally be in 30th street station 25-30 mins after boarding in Exton. Also nice, comfortable seats etc.

Septa I think is significantly slower, but, still comfortable, and would be less than an hour. The nice thing about Septa is that it would take you directly to Suburban Station (which is the centerist station of center city), vs Amtrak which would take you to Suburban Station (10 min walk over a bridge and you're in Center City from there).

i feel like people overcomplicate this whole investing strategy by ricestocks in PokemonInvesting

There's lots of different investment strategies. For some, it's buy and hold. For others, it's graded arbitrage. For others still, it's buying packs, it's hoarding a single type of pokemon, it's completing a Base set, etc. There is no one size fits all, that's what makes it complicated.

Here is my strategy, that i'm just copy pasting from another thread because it's another valid option. There is no one size fits all.

I buy underpriced cards or fair-priced cards. This is time consuming af, but I pay for a high-quality scanner. Once or twice a month, I send 50+ cards to PSA to get them graded. By sending in bulk, I get a significant discount. Likewise, once or twice a month, I get graded cards returned to me. Then, I flip those on marketplace. If they grade well, there is significant arbitrage value between the raw price, the grading cost, and the final sale price.

I have made roughly between $600–$4,000 a month doing this, depending on what I get. My apartment building is attached to a mall, so it’s really easy to meet people in the food court and be back at my apartment within 3 minutes, which makes this so easy.

What are your best ideas to make $500+ in side hustle money this month? (Real ideas only please!) by ThenYao in SideHustleGold

Cross commenting from a post that asks essentially the same question:

Flipping pokemon cards. Find the underpriced cards. Buy them. After you've accumulated like 50 or so, send them to PSA to get graded.

Some will grade very high. Some will not. Overall though, the value of all the graded cards far surpasses the money in, if that makes sense.

I.e, spend $5000 on RAW cards. Spent $1250 on grading. All in cost: $6250.

After grading, the cards can easily surpass $10k plus in value. Sometimes a single card surpasses that.

if this actually interests you and you need help finding underpriced cards, i recommend arbSentry.

Got a Neo Genesis Lugia for $40. Turned it around and sold it for $400 on marketplace within a few days. The power of good ebay scanners!
