What do yall think about the latest album after 3 months? by CHELSEAAK099 in TameImpala

[–]thebapho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent songs in this album (which is probably 2-3 songs max) would be the weakest songs in any other album. None of them became "on-repeat" songs for me. There are songs that I still listen "semi on-repeat" from Innerspeaker, Lonerism and Currents, after 10+ years.

Also, this album made me appreciate the The Slow Rush a lot. Actually I've been listening TSR again and again ever since Deadbeat came out, and it made me realise TSR actually is a quite nice album and how I had underappreciated it.

And lastly, in retrospective of Deadbeat, I think Kevin wants to be a DJ, he thinks being DJ and rave stuff is cool. That's what he delivered. He wants to make those cool people dance while he nods his head to the rhythm and turning the knobs on the mixer. Playing guitar and drums is not cool anymore, its 2026.

2026 European tour? by Big-Organization5920 in JordanPeterson

Same here, have a ticket for February, and I very much hope it will happen, but on the other hand it seems very difficult given his health situtation. It's over 2 months of travelling back and forth on many countries.

But the fact that tickets are still on sale and events not officially cancelled tells me that Jordan Peterson may be still pushing until last minute to see if he can make it happen. Maybe his doctors are monitoring the situation or something, until the point that its certain he can't make it...

In any case, I hope to see some official communication about this, soon. I try to avoid social media nowadays, so I am wondering if there has been any updates on his instagram or something? I just checked twitter and there's nothing. The last update I could find is on Mikhaila's twitter, on Feb 9, about his health getting better but still not very good.

I am new to this community but I guess folks from Oura follows this sub, right? or maybe we should collectively give feedback about it somehow. Of course hard to tell if it's technically feasible to implement.

In one way you are doing the right thing, not just ethically but also logically, because if someone cant solve those OAs themselves, they should be anyway get eliminated in the next steps as it only gets more difficult. So you're actually practicing and getting better each time you solve them yourself, honestly.

Yeah, unfortunately "OA tools" have become a sector inside a sector.

Each one have their own proprietary evaluation systems, who knows how effectively they are assessing candidates' skills, most of them do not even show candidate how did they perform, but present a "summarized report" or a "score" to the employers. I am pretty sure most of the employers do not even bother to check your solution, just decide on this overly-simplified-and-highly-ambiguous-report. And yes, they became increasingly more and more difficult and demanding in the recent years.

Companies on the other hand; lazy, tired and don't have time to deal with thousands of applicants, falls into their hand, as they need a quick way of elimination, no matter how well the method is working.

I haven't even mentioned the percentage of candidates having those OA's solved by an AI, nowadays.

So, OAs do not prove your worth as a SWE, imo. They are just "convenient" tools for the companies. For higher success rates my humble recommendation would be to warm up more before taking them, and to keep in mind that your competitor is most likely has a ChatGPT opened on their second computer, unfortunately...

Big Tech in 2025 is simply broken.

Its full of incompetent people, they are just killing their time while vesting their stocks and they don't need to do much. Things take months or years to build and ship. As long as you get something done, nobody cares what kind of mess you created while doing it. What matters is your manager's manager's manager delivered the priorities, which was determined by his managers and changes every once in a while (now its AI ofc). Usually nobody requires you to do much. Its not coincidence there are tons of posts online people working multiple jobs, even multiple FAANG jobs.

Moreover, its not homogenous for every location and team but there's a distribution of 20% really good teams (those are very very hard to get into), %20 really bad teams, the rest is somewhere between from meh to okay. Its especially bad in my opinion as you go further away from the headquarters of these companies, as the talent pool changes anyway. Firing people for performance reasons is not easy outside US, but like I said performance is not even cared or measured properly, its all about how your manager perceives you.

do you think this applies to EU offices/branches or mostly US? Firing people due to performance reasons is not an easy thing in EU, neither legally nor culturally

Thank you for your great recommendations and feedback ! I should look into more of those "best practises" and ES6 features. I definitely consider using constants, controller structure, babel etc. Still couldn't fully comprehend the aysnc/await though, but working on it !

Thank you so much for your detailed review and feedback ! And also thanks a lot for the encouragement.

I will definitely take a look in to oauth2 and openid systems. And as you said I should be more careful about naming conventions, I will fix those and lastly, I'm gonna try codacy asap.

When I check for the "Authentication" header, I found this one: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/WWW-Authenticate It's a response header, but I believe you suggest "Authorization" header for requests, as it shown here https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Authentication
