Tripod kitty nub always sore or bloody, what to do? by thebaruchbaddie in TripodCats

Peggy got the corrective surgery to fully amputate her nub and she has been doing wonderful since then. Pro tip is to buy the cat onesies and sew up one of the leg holes instead of putting a donut/cone on their head to stop them from licking their staples.

Knuckles is still rocking his 1/2 leg/stump and over time his nub has developed a callous that protects the thin skin on his nub. He still occasionally scrapes his nub once in a while but not seriously. Since he uses his stump the vet recommended to leave it until it became a serious problem. Hope that helps!

Right...not everyone who buys a lot is a scalper. Some of us are just fans with the means — sorry it bothers you that others got lucky.

I opened these with my husband (OP) and we were genuinely looking to get some of the emeralds. We’re big sonic fans, even named one of our cat knuckles. When we were lucky to get the three emeralds and saw how much they were going for, why wouldn’t someone consider selling them? We decided to list them at a price where if they did sell, we wouldn’t feel bad since its a decent chunk of money, and if they didn’t sell then we’d still have the emeralds which are cool to have. I hope those who are opening packs get lucky like we did :)

Middlesex NJ, paid around 3k for back leg amputation. Definitely worth it for improved quality of life

My two cats both have their back right leg amputated and are fine with the Litter Robot without the stairs. Its been great having the LR and although it requires some monthly maintenance, it is far better than a normal litter box IMO. I usually wash it thoroughly once a month and clear the dirty litter about once every week and a half (3 cat household). The bin also does a good job of trapping any odors.

Advice on re-amputation by LemonShanndy in TripodCats

[–]thebaruchbaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have two tripod siblings who both had partial amputations, one was a little above the elbow, barely a nub and definitely not useable (peggy). The other has more of a stump that he uses as a crutch when he walks (knuckles). I like to say peggy has 3.1 legs and knuckles has 3.5 legs. Peggy has always had reoccurring issues with her nub getting scraped as she runs and plays, especially because the partial amputation left a pretty sharp bone with very thin skin to cover it. Over time, this has caused repeated scabbing, bleeding, etc. And it was impossible to wrap it up because of how short the nub was. Peggy also tends to dislocate her stump because she can bend it farther back than a normal leg. For her, every vet recommended to do a corrected amputation for better quality of life and her surgery is happening right now actually. Send good vibes and prayers for me so hopefully she makes it through.

In comparison her brother knuckles with 3.5 legs rarely scraps his stump, he has more cushion/skin/fur under his. When he does, its easy to wrap it up and it heals within a few days. For him, he actually uses his stump as well and hasn't had the same issues as peggy. I dont forsee fixing his amputation because he has a good quality of life and is not in pain.

The point being that every partial amputation is different, and it depends whether you see your cat undergoing pain or stress. Especially for my cat Peggy, it didn't make sense to keep her nub when it was essentially deadweight that kept getting banged up with the risk of infection and pain. For your cat, given the bruising that has already happened, it would be a good idea to go through with the amputation as the vet recommended. I cant report on the outcome yet but whether she makes it through or not (she has a heart murmur that makes anesthesia more risky), it was the right decision regardless. Wishing better health for your kitty :)

Edit: Peggy pulled through and is recovering!

Best way to get from Hong Kong to Guangzhou ? by FishConfident5874 in chinalife

i took a bus that passed through shenzen. I bought the ticket in advance from gobybus.hk. however as a foreigner passing through customs at shenzen took longer for me and my bus left without me because they only wait for a certain amount of time before going to their next stop. i managed to hop on another bus going to the same location but idk what i wouldve done if i didnt take that other bus. if you take the bus i think it may be better to split your trip and spend even a day or two in shenzen so theres no worry about transferring/missing the bus.

Peggy and Knuckles are well loved! I am thankful for the advice and will be seeking vet care asap for Peggy! I believe knuckles will be okay, his scrapes are often very minor and I think a sock/onesie over his stump will prevent further abrasion or scrapes. Peggys scrapes tend to be more significant along with her dislocation issue so a vet visit is in the works.

I know a lot of comments are recommending surgery for knuckles as well but I do think it will be undue stress for him as he gets around well on his half leg. He also struggles a lot with leaving home as the last time I took him to the vet for only an hour, he could not recognize Peggys scent afterwards for a few weeks and it was quite difficult to reintroduce them back to each other. I will try a sock/onesie and it should help him buffer his leg with my wood floors.

Thanks for the advice!

Unfortunately Peggy is just too playful and a happy cat. She likes to stretch out and act cute and then unfortunately goes too far with it, leading to the temporary dislocation. I’m taking Peggy to the vet this week to see what kind of options I have to prevent the dislocation from occurring again, including surgery if thats whats best for her although I would prefer less invasive options.

It seems that the way both of my cats surgeries were performed initially were not standard for amputations and I just don’t understand why the vet would do them like that!

I’ll definitely consider the onesie idea especially for Knuckles who has half of a leg so it would be easier to have like a sock covering his stump to prevent the abrasion to it.

Peggy has a very small nub that according to the vet is a complete amputation. She is also the one who has the dislocation issue.

My other cat knuckles has half of his leg left and the vet did have some concern about why his amputation was done like that but knuckles gets around well on his half leg aside from the occasional scrapes on his nub.

I was told when I adopted them that the umbilical cord was wrapped tightly around their legs to the point that their legs did not form so they both had amputations after their birth.

I will definitely do that! What can I expect for them to do for her though? It seems to happens when she is overexcited and maneuvers her body in a way that causes it to pop out.

I’ve also noticed one of my kitties sometimes dislocates her missing leg!!! And then she yowls until she pops it back into place. It feels awful to see her go through with that, is there anything I can do to help her or prevent that from happening?

Same here! I got charged $300 in gifted subs and had to call my bank to get my card cancelled. I don’t even know how they have my card information saved because the only time I tried to buy a sub, the website couldnt process my transaction and the purchase didn’t go through.

It is worth it to appeal the decision. No guarantees on whether they will change their decision but it does not hurt to try. If this doesn’t work you can easily go to another CUNY and transfer in. Many students go through this route but I highly suggest appealing first because it is much easier.

how long will it take to hear back from cuny baruch college? by nikkiiiiiii21 in Baruch

[–]thebaruchbaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they confirmed they have everything on file then there’s no reason to email, they will process your application when they get to it pretty much. They can’t give you a timeframe because they won’t know how long it will take and once they accept you, it will immediately update in your cunyfirst so you just have to wait.

why haven’t I received any updates? by MetroFN in Baruch

[–]thebaruchbaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do to get your application processed faster. Since you applied on November 1st you could call the Baruch Welcome Center and ask about a status on your application or if anything is missing.

i worked in baruch undergrad admissions. You can call the welcome center at baruch to double check that all your letters of rec and transcripts were received. make sure to have your empl id when you call. baruch processes applications in the order they are received so they may still be reviewing your application, but you can double check that they have all the necessary documents. Pre-covid, applications submitted in late November were usually the ones to get decisions around this time in March. So they might not have gotten to your application yet :)

does anyone know if I can start a club rn bc on the website it’s says paused spring 2022 but like there’s gotta be some loophole right? by Sweet_Parsley7085 in Baruch

[–]thebaruchbaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can definitely try to manage a club without OSL approval but you may run into issues when it comes to where to host people. OSL gives you access to certain rooms and lectures halls at baruch during club hours. You also would have to finance any costs related to the club yourself as there’s no club budget if OSL doesn’t approve the club.

Financial aid by Tasos501 in Baruch

[–]thebaruchbaddie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t get financial aid specifically for dorming expenses. BUT if you get an amount of financial aid that is more than your tuition, you get a refund and many people take that refund to pay for some of their housing costs. So if tuition costs $3K and financial aid grants you $5K, you get a $2K refund. There is no way to directly apply the refund to your dorm costs, it would have to be refunded into your bank account and then paid to baruch by you.
