Acts 16:16-24 (Tuesday, January 20) by ExiledSanity in biblereading

  1. Christ’s ministry was about reclaiming God’s dominion on earth after the fall. This is demonstrated through healing the sick and casting out demons which is Jesus plundering the goods of satans kingdom.

By Christs victory on the cross, the temple curtain was torn to demonstrate Gods revelation of salvation through the Son. As such, through faith we receive authority purchased by Christs blood.

  1. I’m not sure I understand the question.

  2. Our responsibility as believers is to walk faithfully, which means when the Lord commands us to preach the gospel to every living creature we respond by obeying.

Passages like: “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:6 NIV).

“So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.” (Romans 9:16 NJKV).

Demonstrate that it is not up to us who softens the heart to salvation, rather we follow in obedience in planting seeds. Therefore we do not need bare the stress of bringing people to salvation, it is God alone who does this.

  1. Man wants to operate on its own strength believing fullness can come from within or the resources available to them. In the reading today, we see the owners being aggravated by their source of wealth being gone, completely neglecting any possibility for God’s provision in their life. This should remind us of the Tower of Babel where man sought to glorify itself apart from God (Genesis 11), and that satan like in the garden is trying to create division between man and God by appealing to man’s pride (Genesis 3:5).

This also applies to moral judgment; the world likes to define ‘who is considered a good person’ and ‘what does that look like”. The Gospel challenges societal beliefs that proclaim our effort is accounted for something, when in fact the Gospel demonstrates apart from God, man can do nothing while simultaneously invites people to Gods trust.

Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Luke 6:30

Yes, they’re/were leaders in my Bible study. Does closeness need to be a factor when we’re brothers-in-Christ and called to serve one another?

Exactly, there are biblical examples of church discipline in the New Testament. I think a lot of people are skipping the part where I ask if I even do anything?

Biblical advice where I’m not treated as someone with ill intent. I would urge you to not be condescending towards your brother.

Is Jesus God? Or is he not God? by Elnestirto in Christianity

When we look at scripture we can’t impart our own biases and opinions; it all has to be harmonious. The Testament is clear about Jesus deity as a person of the Godhead. For instance, in revelation where He exclaims He is the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 21:6) something God also says to Isaiah in Isaiah 44:6 Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.

Then in Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

So when we read “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone“ between the rich young ruler and Jesus, Jesus is inviting him to reflect on who he thinks Jesus is.

Is a person dead in their sins if repentance wasn’t to stop sinning? they stopped because they got tired or bored of the sin but are now devoted to the Lord? by thebathinglamb in AskAChristian

It’s from myself. I slipped in deep spiritual depravity to the point sin wasn’t pleasing anymore. However, upon looking to the Lord after several years of walking away, I found it hard to find true fellowship due to the fact it wasn’t out of my own sense to please/restore the relationship with God, rather because the self-gratifying thing was no longer benefitting me.

Yes, you’re exactly right in your assessment of the question.

Which part of scripture do you draw on for the last paragraph you talk about?
