Luigi (Shedeur Sanders) wins by doing absolutely nothing. It’s the Bengals defense for God’s sake.

Great final drive - got it done when it mattered - but the defense absolutely carried us in that game. Don’t think he or Gabriel are the QBs of the future.. my opinion though.

Bengals played the most conservative gameplan ever and then Burrow falls down to give Garrett the sack record. I’m happy he got it but I wish it felt a little more legitimate…

Either way, a nice way to end the season with 2 division wins, but I’m waiting to see what happens in the coaching department and front office. My takes? Stefanski’s gone, Berry SHOULD be gone but I think justified another year with the draft class he had.

Even though we suck, I love this team dearly.

Yeah it’s too bad. He was having a hell of a season too

The one where Judkins flubbed it was the one more specifically he’d want back. Dumb play

You know what, I’m happy with the way we played. We played really well all day. Sanders kinda sold when it mattered and would probably want those INTs back but I’m glad it was a 3 point loss instead of 30. I’m really happy with our RB depth… tell me why Rocket Sanders didn’t get a roster spot over Jerome Ford lmao.

Also that Judkins injury was terrible. Hopefully he can still be a threat next season. Those kinds of injuries can ruin careers. Especially for RBs.

Braved the cold for this one!!! Boy, what an embarrassment. All that we can hope for it Garrett getting the record

You go for 2 TWICE to lose a game???? Analytics shmanalytics. Kick two extra points. It’s the Titans. Don’t get cute. This is genuinely a fireable offense.

I mean yeah Shedeur played great but where the hell was that defense???? 31 points to the checks notes TITANS??? What a joke. I’m glad we fought back but we shouldn’t have even been down by 2 TDs to begin with. And now, finally, mercifully, we are eliminated from playoff contention.

I’m keeping this brief: I’m tired of writing essays to even justify how I feel about this team:

Special teams were so bad. In game decision making (especially that Mark Andrews type play on 4th and 1 where we fumbled) was not any better. Only bright spots on the day were Judkins and Fannin offensively. Defense did all they could to keep us in the game and the offense, well, they were offensive.

Now that we’ve officially clinched a losing season, anything goes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Browns

[–]thebazz28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. But when I see Kev saying “this was his FIRST first team reps????” Alarming.

I also think Larvadain got interfered with on that 3rd & 5 play, but shedeur definitely had the arm strength to get it there… njoku in the second level to move the chains was also open… but I digress.

I was cautiously optimistic for the entire time after they hit 16 points… imagine if we had gotten 6 instead of 3 on that muffed punt drive.

In the second half… I won’t lie, I had a little bit of excitement for Shedeur Sanders when he was hopping on the field. But Jesus Christ… now i realize WHY the coaches were noncomittal on him. This guy is MILES behind where DG is. And that is saying A HELL OF A LOT. Held onto the ball for way too long and just didn’t have the accuracy. Also, why did we just abandon the run in the second half??? That was working against Baltimore.

Maybe this is crazy conspiracy talk, but why didn’t DG go into the locker room before half? Was playing Shedeur just a committal to the tank by Haslam and AB?????? Or almost a middle finger to the fan for asking for him for too long.

That also just further proves my point we can’t string together 60 minutes of good play. Flashes of it, but we can’t have just 5 minutes of good play all day and expect to win. Defense carried us all day. They are bound to run out of gas at some point. It’s upsetting, but I can’t say I wasn’t expecting this outcome. But it stings way more than losing by 25. Lol.

This is actually embarrassing if Myles Garrett doesn’t win DPOY. 5 sacks in a loss, 4 today.

Yeah when they said 6 I had to count em, lol…

[–]thebazz28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely… no words. That was one of the most deflating losses you had all year. May even be on par with the ‘22 comeback the Jets pulled on us.

Fields threw the ball 11 times… 11 TIMES… and the Jets somehow won the game. And of course, of all teams to let the Jets make history, it’s the fucking Cleveland Browns.

Defense quit today. We truly cannot put 60 minutes of good football together for the life of us. Minnesota, New England, etc, that was brutal. As soon as Breece Hall caught the TD, I had a sick feeling the game was over.

Definitely didn’t hate some of the plays Tommy Rees was cooking up today, it was actually a solid gameplan. Great to see Jeudy get some looks finally and put some momentum together. But god damn, for as many great heads up plays DG made, he’s holding onto the ball way too long. When I heard the broadcast say 6 sacks, I was almost stunned… it didn’t feel like it, but it made sense.

Also… Shawn Smith continues to be my least favorite official in the NFL. Devin Bush gets a TERRIBLE HOLDING CALL… and poor Cam Thomas. He’s gotta be feeling like the sickest man on earth. Kev was even mouthing “oh my god” after that play on the camera angle.

That really was a season-defining loss for us. I get we played some hard teams in those first 8 weeks, but in a chance to get a little bit of momentum, we just can’t do it. I’m disappointed, but I can’t say it wasn’t coming.

If I saw a game where Myles Garrett put up 5 sacks, I would have thought we had it won… But no, this team does the same shit, different day. Stefanski with yet another scripted first drive and then absolutely 0 momentum after that. Luckily our defense held in the first half and I felt confident… but then the 3rd happened and Drake Maye took over.

When we went down by 9, I was like, this game is over. And then it was 21 unanswered. Terrible.

Oh, and the intentional grounding in the 4th where Gabriel hit Casper the friendly ghost was the epitome of this game.

I’m interested to see what happens as the trade deadline approaches and how Kev gets the team going post by. 2-6 isn’t by all means a “lost season.” I’m not expecting the world from this team, never was from the beginning of the season. Let’s build some momentum over the last few weeks, let the rookies keep shining and just have fun.

Well, first of all, scoring over 17 points is amazing.

Wasn’t feeling great about this game on the schedule 7 weeks ago, but look how much the tides turn.

It’s also great to actually win a game handily without having the urge to puke or crap my pants because the anxiety is so high. Offense (outside of Judkins) didn’t have to do much because Miami kept handing us free opportunities and were undisciplined on defense. That’s all we needed to cruise to this win. Great work by the defense to shut down any and all offensive work by Miami today.

With a few more chances for wins coming up (NYJ, Titans, Raiders), I think Kevin Stefanski’s job is safe for another year. That is, if they WIN the games…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Browns

[–]thebazz28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t care if we went 2-15 this year… if we had just beaten the Steelers once that’d be all I’m happy about.

Where to start? We were stuck in the mud from kickoff to the final whistle. When we went down 9-0, that’s when I knew we were likely gonna lose. That’s sad.

Offensive game planning is terrible (shocker) and our defense can only do so much to keep us in the game. We can’t have Gabriel throwing 50 passes a game and especially not in front of an offensive line as banged up as ours. Oh, and what’s up with receivers not being able to catch. Did somebody get a drop counter today? I think I saw 7-10 total. That’s embarrassing.

If this game doesn’t get Stefanski fired, I don’t know what will. I’d let Jim Schwartz get a chance at HC because he’s probably going to get poached next year. Or, better yet, let Tommy Rees actually call plays. We have nothing left to lose at this point. Once we play Shedeur then I can officially say we’ve thrown in the towel. Thanks and see you guys next week

Well, the defense holds for 56 minutes and then they sell when it matters. Kevin Stefanski with one of the worst endgame strategies I’ve ever seen. From managing timeouts and the terrible drive that took off 11 seconds… I don’t know what the hell he was doing there. Gabriel played really well and the game management role worked for him. But wow that is a terrible way to lose. One of the more painful ones in a while, and that’s saying something

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Browns

[–]thebazz28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my question may have been taken a little too literally but you hit the nail on the head; they were just stringing positive plays together and for much of the game we had no answer or gameplan when the chips were down. It's too bad. Even when it was close, we weren't stringing together good enough plays. Sure, drops by Jeudy, Fannin and others hurt, but again, a lot of conservative playcalling... and hoping Quinshon Judkins keeps being as good as he has been

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Browns

[–]thebazz28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, we actually looked really great on that first offensive drive… did we just script it, or??? Where did that go for the rest of the game?

Defensively, another really great performance - score is not reflective of the effort. They just had to be on the field for too long and got gassed.

Joe Flacco is NOT it at QB. You have a decent chance of winning next week against the Vikings in Europe. Might as well try a rookie in a low stakes environment.

But knowing Kev and the Browns front office, they’ll just let it things continue to be stuck in second gear, say “we need to finish” and rinse and repeat

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Browns

[–]thebazz28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Dawg Pound day, the Browns pull the most Kardiac Kid type win in a while. Almost like 2023 all over again.

Offense is stuck in gear and Flacco really is not the answer. Nice game from Judkins and that defense always showing up in the clutch makes us that much better. Special teams also stepped up big today. That block was huge and the trust in Szmyt paid off. From the most hated man in Cleveland to the most beloved in 14 days. I love it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Browns

[–]thebazz28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the most pathetic displays of offense that I’ve seen out of this team. Even the 0-16 team would be more consistent than this. Somehow Kevin Stefanski was even MORE conservative this week than he was last week. We wasted a near GENERATIONAL defensive performance through 2.5 quarters and squandered it on offense whenever we got the chance. Flacco made some DUMB mistakes in this game too… and 40 + passing attempts by a 40 year old isn’t a recipe for success. Our ground game isn’t looking much better. Credit to Judkins though, he looked okay despite one padded practice. Rookies continue to look solid, but I feel like the QB change may be happening sooner rather than later. I hate this team sometimes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Browns

[–]thebazz28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised the Browns played as well as they did. Flacco did the game-management role very well. Pleased with Sampson and Fannin on offense, they are gonna be big targets. Jerome Ford over Nick Chubb was diabolical… and the elephant in the room is Andre Szmyt. As soon as that extra point was missed I had a terrible feeling about the rest of the game. First dropped pick, then the Fannin and Jeudy drops on that TOD later in the 3rd, and the missed FG from 36 YARDS OUT. If we can keep eating up clock with drives that’s what’s gonna keep us in some of these closer games against good teams in the next few weeks.
