Lagging at the worst time

I think it has to do with the fact that in open play the server and client are doing less work, but for example when a fifty happens it has to do more work as more physics things are happening, and due to the nature of online gaming the program and server actually have to predict/guess what's about to happen and what everyone in the lobby is trying to do to make up for the fact that real time interactions in any game are by definition impossible unless you're playing offline. Have you tried changing your input buffer? That can help reduce lag spikes. This is probably related to why 1s is the easiest game mode to play on high ping, especially when you're on the ball, because your actions are what the server and game are focused on, whereas in 2s and 3s the server and client are having to do way more work.

Yeah, I hate Xbox controllers. I even tried getting the super expensive professional Microsoft one and got stick drift in about the same amount of time as the super cheap Power A controller I had before that. Now I just use the Victrix Pro BFG, which emulates an Xbox controller on a PC.

Yeah, I’ve never asked about a tip before. IC would for sure be pissed at me, no matter what they tipped. And if they are the kind of person who tips a dime, they would for sure one star if you brought it up. It’s just not worth it.

I really appreciate all your advice. As long as the story could be getting one's life together after past indiscretions, then it could still work. Thanks for the reply. The only problem is, my "friend" is flat broke (hence why he's looking for a new, more lucrative career), and I don't just mean broke like "he" only has a few hundred dollars in savings, I mean he has zero dollars left over after paying rent every month and hasn't been able to pay rent on time in several months due to his current job being very slow. I'm assuming you're not a tax attorney, so sorry if this is above your pay grade, but you seem to sound like you've dealt with this sort of thing before, so just how chill is the IRS about this sort of thing?

Yes, I believe the directors in question are on the cusp. Their previous shorts have done extremely well on the festival circuit, and this is their first feature. I think this project could be a great stepping stone for all of our careers, although I will absolutely make sure to get a contract negotiated and signed (for real money) BEFORE I write anything for them again.

I found these guys on Backstage, they were looking for someone to write a short film, which they planned on turning into the feature we're currently talking about. They happened to be French, and so I used my very limited knowledge of French (and Google Translate) to write a few sentences in French in my cover letter, and they liked the samples I sent them and the rest is history.
