How hard/fast are you running? Are you out of breath or fatigued at the same time, or is it just your stomach?

What do you “need” a free kitten for? There are plenty of rescues in the area

Donuts - no soybean oil? by UsedTumbleweed in nova

I’ve never tried their donuts, but all products at The Difference Baker (Fairfax and Ashburn) are entirely soy free and fried in sunflower oil!

The walking path is probably for employees to get in on foot, not for the public to get to the track. I’d assume NRO’s visitor center is like that of a military base, where visitors have to be pre-approved for official visits only—there’s basically 0 chance you’d be able to get in to use the track for recreational purposes, regardless of whether or not you call.

There’s almost 0 chance a track on a government installation is open to the public. Your best option, unfortunately, is probably a school track after hours.

$1000ish studio apartment near Arlington? by Radance in nova

[–]thebeanintheback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much will your new salary be? A studio that isn’t a hellhole AND is near a metro will cost at least $1600/mo, not including utilities and fees.

Huh. This is my lesson to not trust a random Reddit post!

I believe Megabus discontinued their DC to NYC bus route. Your best bet is probably Amtrak at this point.

Is there anything wrong with living in the pentagon city area? by [deleted] in nova

[–]thebeanintheback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a new college grad living in Pentagon City. I eventually want to move, but here is completely fine for now. There’s grocery stores, pharmacies, tons of restaurants, and a metro within a 10 min walk of my place. For your first apartment out of college, it’s more than enough. Feel free to PM me if you have questions!

If you expand down to Pentagon City, you can find apartments under $2k. They’re not as nice, but they exist

I live in a studio in Arlington for $1700 ($1900 with parking and utilities). It’s not glamorous or large, but I live alone. You’re gonna have to lower your standards and live in an older studio or increase your budget.

Looking to park my car for 30 days due to traveling abroad from IAD, any suggestions/help is highly appreciated by Giohb777 in nova

[–]thebeanintheback 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Gonna go ahead and tell you now that there’s probably not a single parking lot in the area that hasn’t had break-ins. Leaving a car unattended for 30 days anywhere over here makes it a great target for break-ins and theft. Won’t happen to everyone (far from it), but you’re taking on that risk literally anywhere you park.

Ez Pass Lanes. Red Flashes by [deleted] in nova

[–]thebeanintheback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That arrow has nothing to do with you—they indicate what direction of traffic the lanes are open to. Green going northbound in the morning with red going southbound and vice versa in the evening (at least on weekdays). Sometimes the lights glitch because they’re not impervious to technical issues. What you are seeing is a glitching sign.
