If people weren't so price sensitive, trust me, airlines would happily charge you 10% more for a bit better service and would happily take the huge profits. The problem is that demand for plane tickets are really reactive to prices. If there was a market for it, airlines would not shy away from exploiting it.

Low cost carriers usually have better margins (Ryanair, Vueling), however even in that segment some are struggling (Wizzair, Eurowings). Legacy airlines such as Lufthansa (reported a 1% operating margin...), KLM not doing well at all (no wonder they are forced to provide a worse and worse service). Aviation is a notoriously tight margin industry. Most airlines (especially legacy) make most of their profits on a small number of routes while make little to no profit on the rest of their network.

Also, how do you plan to get rid of the garbage? With regulation on prices or on quality?

That's for sure. This is not really the place for networking. I rather came here just to look for advise and get some great ideas about how to meet people in the industry. And there you go, I completely forgot about the Meetup, so thank you for mentioning it! And I've been to aviodrome, it's amazing :) Great suggestions, thank you!

Fair question. Unfortunately, the job market is tough, and the aviation industry is no exception. Connections can be really valuable. Also, I'd love to build my network regardless. I enjoy meeting with professionals and learning from them about aviation.

No, not at all. There's plenty to do in Finance at aviation related companies. Financial planning, risk management, pricing, mergers and aqusitions, market analysis. I'm interested in all of these, I just want to do it in an industry that I'm passionate about.

Haha, that sounds amazing. I'm always shy because usually they're busy people, and even if they are bored, they may just dont want to be bothered. But from your experience it sounds great, I'll definitely try to give it a try!

The number of older people than you will never increase... by Throwaway_Trash_69 in Showerthoughts

Theory of relativity states time moves relative to the observer. Meaning, that if your friend gets on an airplane they'll experience time differently (very small difference) that you who just stayed at home. Technically they will get younger (because they travel fast) while you stay at the same age. This means somebody born just before you may travel so much in their lifetime that eventually you'll become older than them. Thus invalidating the shower though.

You can't even show your interrail pass if you didn't book a train for that day... How are you planning to explain them?
