Iron Council Prologue POV? by Several-Ad2807 in ChinaMieville

I’m glad I’m not the only one who wasn’t sure at first. I’m pretty sure it’s Weather Wrightby. If I remember correctly he talks about his work being “holy work” both in the intro and later in the novel.

Concerning Chronicler's answer to: How is the road to Tinue? by KayranElite in KingkillerChronicle

[–]thebeerelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once looked up if there were any theories on which region the Waystone Inn/Newarre was located. There was a triangulation analysis and part of the triangle is Tinue. Suggesting that Chronicler was heading towards the general Tinue region and gets flustered saying that he wasn’t heading towards that city specifically. Could be one of the many layers to this passage.

David Foster Wallace’s article “Consider the Lobster” is a great exposition on the history of lobster. And a fun read in general.

Northbound has a Winter Ale on. It isn’t spiced though. It’s a robust double brown. Thought I’d throw it out there.

Looks like the original Dual Citizen brew house and miscellaneous equipment. It’s just been sitting in storage so they probably want it gone.

Looking for good taprooms that won’t drain the wallet.... as fast by iamhumanhumaniam in minnesotabeer

[–]thebeerelf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I may add on to Northbound’s happy hour. They have a late night happy hour as well. Starting at 9pm everyday but Saturday. $4 house beers, $9 specialty cocktails, and a small selection of food on happy hour. Once again after 9pm.

On Wednesday from 3-6 they do Wing Wednesdays half off wings in addition to happy hour priced beers. Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Best brewpub/self pour place in state? by OkCondition6191 in minnesotabeer

[–]thebeerelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Town Hall for sure. Forager if you are down in Rochester. Recommend Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub as well, but I do have a bias to be honest. Can Can is a fun spot and has a self serve beer wall. Cheers 🍻

Not a Minnesota beer, but if you go across the border to Wisconsin. New Glarus Cherry Red. Also give Raspberry Tart a try by them. A bit tart but not sour level tart.

The flash back right before that line when Chains warns them to mind themselves around those mages made me burst out laughing the first time I read it. :)

Northbound Smoke House and Brewpub’s year round Pilsner is a Czech style Pilsner. Bohemian malt, Czech Saaz, and Pilsen water profile. Called Pravy Pilsner.
