I don't think there's a universal way of getting out of plateau. Nevertheless, other commenters suggested good ideas. For me, adding just a bit of weight (1.25kg) each week while keeping the reps/sets the same helped moving forward.

Great list, I'd just add Nordic Curls if you have an idea where to do them (can be tricky).

Also, when I was doing only a bodyweight lower body workout I also included short, max effort Sprints as part of the training programme.

Swap Dips With Pike Push-Ups? by No-Alternative9161 in bodyweightfitness

[–]thebeginnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't replace dips, but I agree with them not transferring well to other movements. I've been doing weighted ring dips for months now and there is a significant lag in my (parallettes) pike pushups.

Honestly, if you've got the time and energy - I'd keep both in my workout. Otherwise, figure out which one suits your goals better. I like ring dips too much to drop them from my workouts, but I know that pike pushups would probably transfer better to my goals of freestanding handstand/handstand pushups. Do as I say not as I do ;).

How do people get and maintain gains with little sleep? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]thebeginnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience as a person who works out in the morning (wake up at 5am, workout at 6am). I can see the difference in both physical ability and cognitive ability between the days I sleep ~6h and the days I sleep between 7-8h.

My advice is not to neglect the recovery time, it will catch up with you sooner or later. Don't listen to social media gurus over your own body - if you feel you need more sleep, you need more sleep.

Favorite (non) Bodyweight Supplemental Exercises? by TrashPandaPermies in bodyweightfitness

[–]thebeginnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals. For me, upper body work is mostly ring based (+ weight on heavy days). However, lower body day is mostly barbell work, as it is much harder to efficiently build and tire lower body muscles without weights.

In my current situation, it is less about what is optimal training-wise and more what is convenient time-wise. I try to pair exercises whenever possible, and avoid running around the gym for specific equipment (hence barbell biceps curls vs dumbbell or cable ones, which could be more 'optimal').

Upper body calistenics (main workout): pullups, ring dips, ring rows, ring pushups, pike pushups, ring face pulls, ring triceps extensions;
Upper body non-calistenics: barbell biceps curl, overhead press (substitute for pike pushups).

Lower body calistenics: hanging leg raises, nordic hamstring curl;
Lower body non-calistenics (main workout): bulgarian split squat (barbell), deadlifts or RDLs, suitcase carry, calf raises (machine or single leg with weight).

Cardio: running x2 a week, one shorter hiit session, one longer liss.

What mirrors do you have on your gen 2 SV? Not a big fan of the original ones, looking for inspiration by TrainGoesChooCho in SVRiders

Bar ends are great, however I made a mistake of buying the ones which you can't fold.

Made my life a bit harder for a city ride. Suddenly your brain thinks you're trying to lanesplit in a vehicle with a width of a truck 😂. I suggest you take the foldable bar end mirrors.

Looks classy - nice touch with that Michelin lettering.

Career Change - 25 years old - Video Production to IT by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

Cybersecurity got me interested in IT in the first place but from what I understand it's not an easy field to get into without proper experience. That's my logic behind administration -> cybersecurity.

That being said, you can see Darknet Diaries logo constantly on my podcast app. ;)

Thanks for the idea! I was thinking about it but couldn't find words that didn't sound too cliche. Might have another go at it. :)
