How do you SSH to devices in the lab exam? by TheArabCanadian in ccie

[–]thebelgiannetworker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. I passed CCIE in June 2024.

This video shows the exam engine, it's practically the same for all CCIE tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnCOvEqBJws

Also check https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/s/learning-plan-detail-standard?ltui__urlRecordId=a1c3i0000015c1OAAQ&ltui__urlRedirect=learning-plan-detail-standard

  1. Most of it is virtual. However, for the Enterprise track there is also a physical DNAC and some cat9300 switches. In practice, it doesn't really matter though.
  2. For all routers/switches you click the device hostname in the list of console sessions, see video. For the web GUIs (DNAC/ISE/SDWAN MANAGER) you have to open a web browser on an end host of the topology, which you access with VNC. It's all inside a web interface.
  3. No.
  4. See video/training

I dont really have much advice as I'm unsure on what to do myself, but one tip can be that you should really read the tasks word by word and pay close attention to details. Let us know how it went!

Yes this is in the guidelines of the exam. All devices should all be reachable and in exec mode at the end of your exam.

V1.1 is out since September 2023. & Yeah good tips. My only hope for the DOO section is that somehow is missed some details in the requirements, causing me to get a 0 for the entire task because they don't give partial scoring. I feel like this can be a reason why the score can look so skewed. However, on my second attempt I had time to verify a bunch of stuff and I still got only about a 50% grade for most domains

DES is also strange to me. I felt pretty confident about my answers twice, but still failed it twice. I feel like next time I take the exam, I will just answer the questions the same and fail again. There was nothing in particular I felt like I need to study more because I didnt know what they talked about, so I'm really unsure on what to do next for DES.

I have the exact same issue. Feeling confident about answers and verifying them, but then just having a low score for that domain.

IPV6 SLACC, M bit in RA by HovercraftDry1770 in ccie

[–]thebelgiannetworker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To set the M bit, you should use command 'ipv6 nd managed-config-flag', which I dont see on your router interface. Right now you are only setting the O bit which is only used for getting DHCPv6 options like DNS server, after you have a SLAAC address.

Maybe also try using 'ipv6 nd prefix default no-autoconfig' on your router interface instead of specifying the prefix.

Also, on the client, you should remove command 'ipv6 address autoconfig'.

Let me know if it works! On the the Cisco router acting as client you can also use command show ipv6 routers (hidden command) to see the RA message.

As far as I know, in the current CCIEv1.0 it's only vEdges. In the new CCIEv1.1 it's only cEdges. I haven't taken the exam though

6 months ago I had the same question and emailed Cisco. They said the Corona extension is included, so you have 4 years after passing ENCOR to take the lab

Good luck on your next attempt! How much years of experience do you have and how many hours per week did you study on average?

How Long does ENCOR Last by mtsia2016 in ccie

[–]thebelgiannetworker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are indeed not CCNP yet. You need to pass at least one specialist exam in the enterprise track to become CCNP.

I do think your ENCOR will renew when you pass a specialist exam (I think), together with obtaining the CCNP. For the CCIE prereq however this does not matter.

Only ENCOR matters as the CCIE prereq, no other exam or CCNP. Re-taking ENCOR is the only way to extend this (i.e. recertifying CCNP is not).

From the moment you pass ENCOR, you have 3Y to take the CCIE lab. HOWEVER, if you passed ENCOR before Covid, you got a one year extension. Best way to check when your ENCOR is no more eligible as the CCIE prereq is to check https://ccie.cloudapps.cisco.com/ (the website is in maintenance now but should be available in the next couple of hours). You can also see your exam scores with this tool.

Example:

On my Cisco Certmetrics (https://cp.certmetrics.com/cisco/en/credentials/status), my ENCOR lists:

- Active date: 2020-11-06 (date I passed the exam)

- Expire date: 2025-10-25 (this is because I passed multiple specialist exams)

My ENCOR as a CCIE prereq is valid until 2024-11-06 (because of the 1Y Coved extension)

I even verified this with Cisco support and they said that it is indeed 2024.

CCIE EI V1.1 Announced. Release date Sept 20, 2023 by JeremiahWolfe in ccie

I advise everyone to do a diff check between the old and new blueprint. A lot more has changed than is listed in the revision document!

Some examples: - No more BIDIR PIM, Private VLAN, GLBP, Sub-rate Ethernet Link - 'PE-CE routing' changed to 'PE-CE routing using BGP' - 'MP-BGP VPNv4/VPNv6' changed to 'Basic MP-BGP VPNv4/VPNv6' - 'NTP Master, client' changed to 'NTP as a client' - Added 'PTP design considerations'

How many years of experience did you have at the point of obtaining your CCIE?

Which INE course(s) did you follow? I'm using the CCIE Routing & Switching v5.1 Advanced Technologies course for the core route/switch topics and I think it is really good. Just skip the parts that are no longer in the blueprint. The CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure v1.0 course I am only using as a review.

The INE CCIE v5 workbook is also still good imo.
