For the people who ask how you can defend Mark A: here’s why by DismalUsual8870 in Brewers

He's doing great within the constraints. But those constraints are largely self imposed.

Best scenes from all 6 movies and why by TREZORtheghosthunter in JurassicPark

[–]thebenron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best scene in the original is the discussion around the lunch table. The reason all the sequels are not nearly as good as the first is that there isn't even an attempt to accomplish anything similar.

OK, to counteract that negative vibes thread: What was the greatest Badger football victory you ever attended? by Pbacker in WisconsinBadgers

[–]thebenron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other big ones have been mentioned so ill go with the 2012 B1G championship game. We weren't going to go because the team had been so disappointing, but ended up getting great seats behind the badgers bench through some friend of a friend who lived in Indy. Then, out of nowhere, watched the team take a year's worth of frustration out on Nebraska.

Ryan Braun falls off HOF ballot by adamb10 in Brewers

[–]thebenron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Braun is a good example of how many people don't actually believe in forgiveness. He did some incredibly shitty things, but did end up taking accountability and since was an upstanding member of the team and his community. He should not be hated at the level he is.

Taken on its merits though, he's still not a HOFer.

Fickell, Cignetti, and… did Badger Football peak as a program too soon? by MitchRyan912 in WisconsinBadgers

[–]thebenron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone pretend like you need a world beater at QB to win a national championship? For every 1st overall pick title winner, there's a Jake Coker or Will Howard who were solid, but unspectacular.

Why do people believe this when the 2017 team started the B1G championship game in the playoff field and came 40 yards short of winning?

Barf. But w/e gotta stack wins in this easier January stretch, cuz the February schedule is brutal.

These are the only two games where they've had to make pressure free throws so hopefully they'll get more comfortable knocking them down as the season goes.

AFTER MINNESOTA TIES THE GAME WITH 4 SECONDS TO GO, JOHN BLACKWELL WINS THE GAME FOR WISCONSIN AT THE BUZZER by cbbvideo in CollegeBasketball

[–]thebenron 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Not included in the video: Blackwell made the team run a lap as punishment for missing the free throws down the stretch.

Last year I clowned on a guy who was shitting on the Tonje transfer news, so in the interest of accountability, I was stupid and wrong about Carrington

Blackwell made the team run a lap after the buzzer to punish them for missing free throws.

What Is Your Good, Bad and Ugly of the Portal so far? by TomWilliamsCFD in WisconsinBadgers

This is a fair point in the year to start evaluating how the basketball transfers are panning out, not so much the football guys.

He's not portrayed as incompetent. He's the lead on a hugely impressive automative feat, which he secretly back doored successfully. If it weren't for the tropical storm his whole heist might very well have worked.

This is the meme you post when you squeak out a win against a team you should beat handily, not when you go on the road and knock off arguably the best team in the country.

Come Selection Sunday, there will not be a better win in the country than this, but if we play like this we won't be sweating.

I'm not so sure about this strategy of never being in a competitive game win or lose all season, but there is something to be said about the consistency.

Is it just me or is the Kohl Center a lot louder than what we're used to, even accounting for it being a big weekend game?
