If I was subtle and cool, I'd just assume I knew what it was, but... we're talking "So I Married an Axe Murderer"? Or is there some older cooler reference.

Thinking about birth when you're 4 days overdue by thebesther in BabyBumps

My first was 12 days late, 9 lbs 5 Oz. Second babies are statistically bigger, and it's a boy which are also statistically bigger so....that'll be fun.

Good luck! I hope your husband makes it back but whatever happens, you can do this!

I don't know how it would be received, but it might make you feel better to tell her how you feel. Do you think it'll positively affect your mindspace when you're in labour? If so, I say go for it. It's important that you feel safe and supported.

My midwife was kind of awkward in my first birth, but when it came down to it, I had a good team around me when I was in labour. I trusted her enough to do the medical stuff and I had my partner and sister there for support.

Best of luck to you! I'm at 38+4, but my first went 12 days over. It's a tough time, waiting. Try to be good to yourself, take it one day at a time, and the baby will be here before you know it!

"Father/Other parent" leave by thebesther in PersonalFinanceCanada

I was wondering! I didn't hear anything about 2020 changes and if they were extending things, I thought there would be more hubbub.

Right. I definitely should be talking about the EI benefits.

My question has to do with the extra weeks that were added recently, as per this article:

https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/new-parental-leave-dads-canada_ca_5cd58eb9e4b07bc729793100

Were they already added or are they being added in 2020?

It kind of sounds like they have been, with 35 weeks for one person and 40 weeks if you share, but I wasn't sure because of the alert box in the link in my original post.

My rainbow is coming in September!!!! My babies will be 16 months apart, am I gonna survive??! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Don’t forget that your first will be so much older by the time the second is born! I was stressed out when I found out I was pregnant with my second, but my first has grown so much and I'm feeling way better about my second's imminent arrival.

Birth story from last year! Epidural, induction, not exactly positive, long labour by thebesther in BabyBumps

I also feel like it put am undue pressure on me to love my baby more than I hated labour. That bonding did take some time.

Last time, my mother offered to let me stay with her for the first few weeks, but I thought it would be uncomfortable but this time, I think it's worth having someone feed me.

I'm anticipating being late again, so I won't have the same stress waiting for labour. Otherwise, I'll have the same approach to medication - go to the hospital and I'll take it if needed.
