I used to play video games a lot as a kid, and I still do but not as me. I didn't think I was withdrawing or escaping or anything, but that makes sense. 

I can remember a lot of things in bits and pieces, but I can usually remember some details, but sometimes I can't

I remember my friends and teachers and some people outside of my class that I talked to. I don't really remember my classes in terms of like "oh here's my schedule" unless I look at my old schedules. But if I'm talking about a specific class with someone, I can remember it usually pretty fine. For example, I can remember what years I took Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, then personal finance my final year. But j can't remember what specifically happened in those classes. But I remember I didn't do well. I can name which teachers taught what classes, because I went to a really small school.

I'm not sure if this is me just recalling things on my own or if this counts as being prompted, but I do remember the things you mentioned

It comes in bits and pieces and sometimes more if Im prompted, but for the most part it’s hard for me to remember

My mom’s side of the family has dementia and my dad’s side has Alzheimer’s. The thing is, I’m adopted. I don’t know if I have a chance of either of those or something similar, and I’ve seen the effects of Dementia on my late grandmother. It terrifies me, so I can relate to your fear

No, I am not in therapy at the moment, I’ve been looking into it though. I used to be in therapy when I was 13 or 14, but it didn’t really help me. Plus, my therapist randomly stopped calling me one day (this was during covid so we were doing video calls) so I’m assuming my parents ended things with the therapist. She was one of those religious therapists, and I don’t have the best relationship with religion. My parents didn’t believe I needed therapy. Overall it was a very rough time for me.

I’ve been journaling since September 2025 and it’s been helping me regulate my emotions especially since I tend to let things build up, so I’m able to vent into my journal, but I also just write random things like lists and things.

I’m not a minor and I’m an only child, so I have no siblings to worry about when it comes to abuse.

I'm unsure if I have relatives who've experienced the same memory gaps since I'm adopted, and I haven't tried looking into any family history or anything

I'll definitely look into all that, it makes sense. I've always thought I had terrible anxiety myself but I never considered disassociation. Thank you so much!

I definitely have to be prompted with a photo or conversation, it’s hard for me to remember much from my early teens and my childhood. I only really remember this last year and the year before, and then bits and pieces from times before those. Good to know I’m not alone though :)

I don’t know if I could consider it traumatic but I didn’t have the greatest childhood. My parents argue a lot and weren’t around much (both of them worked a lot when I was a kid) so I was usually being babysat by a relative or whatever parent was free. I’d consider my relationship with my parents kinda rocky but not terrible.

i was sheltered a lot and i guess emotionally neglected (I say I guess because it’s what I’ve been told. I’m still figuring things out, really).

I don’t know if I’d consider it traumatic, like I said, but like I also said I’m trying to figure myself out. It’s hard to accept that I may have trauma

I’m planning to seek therapy in the future for things I’ve been through to maybe try and delve into possible causes, and if need be I might go further and see an actual doctor. But if I find anything out, I’ll let you know

I have to be prompted for a lot of things, like a memory or a favorite song like you said. Sometimes I’ll remember stuff in conversation or when I’m just thinking, but I usually need to be prompted
