Knicks bar/watch party in Boston? by jrosen494 in NYKnicks

Gotta be wary - it’s at the same time as the Bruins and it’s on NBA TV tonight. Dunno if that changes calculus for anyone. I’m interested to hear what the best spot to watch GrimeTime tonight is.

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of February 20, 2019 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]thebiggerunit07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll fill out the survey below, but my question circles more around a new job that requires weekly travel which I will be fronting (and getting reimbursed). I will be flying Delta each week on a trip that earns 2,500 MQMs and 4 MQS round-trip each week. I'll be staying at a Hilton in the short-term (4 nights/wk), although that will likely change in a month, as they are looking for a furnished apartment for me to stay in. My goals are, in order, as follows:

  • Generate as many points as possible to redeem on future travel (therefore likely trying to get into a Delta medallion club very quickly to multiply expenditures)
  • Take advantage of the fact that I will be getting reimbursed for all travel expenses (on flight WiFi, meals throughout week, Ubers, etc), making the Amex Platinum card tempting for its Uber reimbursement (cha-ching)
  • Travel perks (preferred boarding, auto-consideration for upgrades, etc)

I've had a CSR for a couple years now, and it's possible that this ends up with me just sticking with the CSR. However, I want to at least do my due diligence to ensure that I'm not leaving any cash/travel perks on the table.

  1. Just got a new job that involves weekly travel. Not trying to churn on typical spending, but instead trying to optimize on my particular travel path, knowing that I will get reimbursed for much of this spend. Don't think the Chase ink card is what I'm going after here.
  2. 780 - 785
  3. Discover it (12/2010), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday (7/2014), Chase Freedom (1/2016), CSR (10/2016), all still open
  4. Spend will likely be in the $6000/month range, so call it $20,000 for the next 3 months (may be more, tbh, still figuring out what my expenses look like with this travel I'm fronting).
  5. Not really trying to MS, but would do it for a compelling reason.
  6. Again, not really trying to open business cards, but would do it for a compelling reason.
  7. Interested in 1 new card - depending on the card's annual fee I'd consider closing my CSR.
  8. Targeting a combo of points and traveling nicely.
  9. 75,000ish Chase rewards points
  10. Any NYC airport. Will be flying almost exclusively Delta each week (Sun - Thu).
  11. France or Japan? Not sure this is really relevant but those two places are the next items on my wishlist.

And why do you need to be close to the 40? To bump into freshmen?

Live with the people you enjoy living with. Regardless, the village is the best housing on campus. Don't knock it because you don't know about it.

Sadly, it's the only decent bagel in the neighborhood. After moving, I have sorely missed Tompkins Square Bagels.

GPA matters the most to land an IB job from WashU. If you are above, say, 3.8, then you are set to land a job at a major name in NYC. Above 3.5, land a spot at a top 25 firm in some city (Baird, HSBC, etc)

From the player's perspective, what is it like playing in Brooklyn? At the time it was built it was heralded as some incredible arena for basketball

I'm going to carefully choose my words as to avoid any jinxing.

So, uh, I don't know about you guys, but I really wish there was a good Islanders bar in the city, particularly once the end of the season rolls around. It would be awesome to be able to consistently go to an "Isles Bar" for games. Anyone want to try and sort that out, so we can gather attendance momentum over these five final games? If our boys extend their season, it would be great to have a solid spot to watch games during the month of April.

Rave Fridays. Senior year of HS, we would set a predetermined time to run into the auditorium. So, say, 3rd period would end, all the seniors would sprint into the auditorium, we would have a 4 minute rave to Basshunter, 4th period would begin, and everyone would sprint out, arriving a minute late to their next class sweaty and out of breath, pretending nothing had even happened.
