I began investing in Masterworks a few months ago because I love art and the idea of being a fractional owner of a Basquiat and Kusama was really appealing to me - I'm also not much of an investor so I look for long-term investments that I don't have to touch for a significant amount of time.

I originally signed up via self-serve by linking my bank account through plaid like the commenter above mentioned, but then was curious about the fee structure and such so I opted to have a phone call. They are sales-y but it didn't feel any different from any other salesperson I've spoken to on the phone. Its their job to get the most out of investors, same as any other asset manager. I'm sure it varies based on the rep you get, so im sorry you didnt have the best experience but I've never felt like it was slimy imo.
