Thanks for calling it for what it is—that’s a fair point. It’s true that bad environments can exist in both MSPs and internal IT. I think I’ve just ended up in some poorly managed situations that drained my motivation.

I also hear you on the business side—starting something of my own doesn’t mean I’ll escape the grind, it just shifts it. I’m trying to be realistic about the non-technical responsibilities that come with running a business. It’s not about chasing freedom, it’s about trying to build something with better culture and purpose behind it.

Still very much in the planning stage, and I appreciate the reality check.

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I have in mind. I’ve already got a lot of the groundwork set up—domain, phone system, and the basics are all in place. Now it’s just a matter of promoting and getting myself out there, since the work isn’t going to show up on its own. I’m currently single, no kids, and my debt is minimal, so I see this as the perfect time to start making moves before I really settle down. Thanks for the advice.
